  1. Hi there! I was part of the NYU Nurse Residency program back in Fall 2019 so I've worked here for almost 1.5 years now. NYU usually will have a posting on their site that says Fall Graduate RN posting or Spring depending. The hardest part I think is getting HR to notice you. NYU does tend to hire their own students more. I didn't go to NYU but thankfully I had experience working as a nurse intern and as a nurse assistant. Once you do your first interview with HR, you tell them what units you're interested in and they let you know openings and they set you up for interviews with the manager. The hiring freeze seems to be lifted because my unit has had a couple of new nurses start this past month. Let me know if you want to know anything else :)
  2. I'm a current nurse at NYU and I was with the Spring 2019 group. NYU recently sent out a mass email to everyone indicating that they were on a hiring freeze because of the financial impact of COVID. Not sure when it will be over.
  3. NYC New grad. $48/hr day shift, $53/hr night shift.
  4. I think it is a good sign! The questions for HR was harder than my in-unit haha. HR has a packet and they ask 5 questions and write your answers. I dont remember all of them but the ones I remember were: Tell me about a time you went above and beyond for a patient, Tell me about a time you gained someone's trust. My in-unit one, I was never really asked any formal questions but mine was my nurse manager and two other employees from the unit. They asked me about my work experience and it was mostly them explaining the unit, wanting to know why I chose the unit
  5. I applied with a residency link. Though I got my phone interview pretty quick because I got the recruiter's email from a school career fair and emailed her the minute I applied so we got the process going quickly.
  6. I had the exact story as you. I did a phone screen and the same day was asked to schedule an in-person interview and was asked for references. The hiring process with NYU can take a long time from post-interview to offer depending on the nurse manager and unit. But HR is very nice about updates. If you think you're willing to wait for NYU, then go for it but if you have bills to pay or something, I'd take the other offer.
  7. I don't have alot of info on orientation because I haven't gotten any emails about it. I think I should get an email regarding it next week so I can let you know then.
  8. Thanks! Honestly the process from phone to HR interview/In-unit interview was pretty quick but the waiting after took the longest. I had a different process because I did my HR interview and in-unit on the same day. My advice for the unit one is to bring in several copies of your resume because my interview was an interview with the manager and two other people. And definitely follow up with the recruiter often after your in-person interview. I made sure to interview my recruiter every 2 weeks for updates and the day I got hired, I emailed her again and she told me a spot just opened but there were 3 people on the waitlist but I got the call 20 minutes later that I got the offer. Definitely keep your name on their mind.
  9. I just got hired by NYU and am starting in November. The math test is super easy and is similar to the study guide they email you. The hiring process took a long time for me as I did my phone interview in end July and my in-person in mid august and finally got hired mid-october but the recruiters have all been super nice in keeping me updated.
  10. I just sent it! Note that I've heard that NYU is slow with hiring right now because they just hired a bunch of people over the summer and they're also dealing with internal transfers. My hiring process with them took 3 months so patience is definitely needed.
  11. Yes applying online is the best! That's what I did. Though it also helped me that I got the email to the recruiter from my school's career fair and I emailed her to let her know I applied. I'm not sure about the limit to jobs thing as I only applied to one listing. If you're a new grad, the fall 2019 one for new grads isnt up yet.
  12. Just wanted to update you all. I got the offer today and I'm starting with the November group! If you guys have any questions, let me know. ?
  13. I also interviewed in late July but I have yet to receive my offer letter. Currently on the offer waitlist. I've been in contact with HR and she told me that I should get an offer once spaces opened up on the floor I interviewed on in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed because I really want this job.
  14. I've been emailing the recruiter every 2 weeks for updates. I just get worried that I'm bothering her.
  15. Just wanted to bump this topic up again and ask a few questions. I interviewed back in mid-august with HR and the Nurse Manager of a unit and I think the interview went great. However, I have yet to hear back with an offer or a rejection and it's been over a month. Everytime I email my recruiter, she tells me that I'm on an offer waitlist and they are waiting on spots. Anyone else here have experience with an offer waitlist??
