I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

So I'm not sure of what the solution is. I do not think you're suggesting this but, should we some how criminalize people for their beliefs or words? Monitor every email, social media post etc? Or perhaps ask other citizens to inform police when they hear someone else saying something they do not agree with or find offensive?
That's an extreem example but even proposing something like that is very dangerous.
Who would regulate this? The majority in the Senate? Congress? The POTUS? Would you want Trump deciding this? Or Republicans? I'm assuming you are more left?
No of course not we shouldn’t criminalize people for their thoughts. This isn’t a Tom Cruise movie. Lolol. Monitor every email and social media posts (I do believe the govt agencies are already doing this) however only if something that is said poses red flags, and I’m not even totally sure of what constitutes a red flag.. lolol probably this freaking chat jk.
But yes I do think other citizens should report when someone else is planning an attack. ABSOFREAKINGLUTELY! Look at what happened at Tops marker. He live streamed that before he got there and murdered. And the Uvalde person told someone and was acting weird as well but nope nothing. And I’m not placing blame on anyone, especially the Uvalde incident because the girl said she had no idea. I mean she knew he was weird and sent pics of his guns but … you can really never know for sure. Something we need to be educated on..
Also nowadays weird is cool but what we’re seeing is antisocial personalities and we’re labeling them as the cool version of weird and they are not. Hope that made sense.
Did you really just offer up and ask me if I want Trump to decide how to regulate these processes . Ha ha this?? I thought you said you stalked this chat before your first post.. See Will, now you’re making me have doubts.

Yes phile words connotate a fondness for things. Like a fondness sexually for children. Most nefarious and recognized, , pedophile. Which has a very bad connotation that most people are familiar with. We do not generally use that suffix to describe something good. Even though, by definition, itself in the English language, doesn't indicate it to be negative. And sycophant sounds like phyco ,in which we also generally use as a negative even though it's original definition isn't intended to be.
If you tell me that you are not using these words for their implied negativity, or to inflame and incite discust by using phile, then I have no reason not to believe you.
I think you put allot of thought into your post and honestly when I hear words like that, I usually stop reading.
(I will fully read a post if it is in direct reply to my post out of respect. Even so, I'm less likely to consider your other ideas when I do.)
I'm assuming you want change, and to prevent people from believing lies and propaganda. it's just my input on how you could achieve that better. I'm not an expert or anything, I appreciate when people point things like that out to me!).
You are new here. I specifically have been challenged to make certain that I am not lumping all conservatives into a single group. Some conservatives have been very sensitive about feeling like they might be associated with "conservative" groups that they don't associate or agree with. In response, Heron coined the term and I use it for the purpose of quickly and accurately identifying the specific group of republican voters. Clearly, MAGAphiles are not the largest voting block for the GOP anymore.
You read a negative connotation into it. TBH, I perceive the MAGA movement to be negative and dangerous for our democracy... so "MAGA" represents the negative prefix in this new term. Other conservatives have read a negative connotation into it because of the suffix. I think that's because conservative media outlets and internet sites have so many conservatives worried about pedophiles... so that's the first and perhaps only application of that suffix that occurs to them. I'm drinking tea out of a set of cups with words on them... my cup says bibliophile... is that derogatory?
I try to use words according to their definitions. You've maybe noticed that I will correct or question people on the meaning of the words they use in our written discussions. That's because words have meanings. If we want to communicate clearly in written form then we must use unambiguous language.
Do you disagree that Trump is generally surrounded by sycophants? Do you think that sycophants is an accurate descriptor.
Do you disagree that the suffix -phile connotes a fondness?
I'm not certain why anyone should stop using language correctly because some conservatives feel uncomfortable about the individual words.
I feel like just not reading your comments sometimes when I'm confronted with made up right wing nonsense in every paragraph... things about white racism or some balance of election lies or denial between the political parties, or that you can find features of fascism in any form of government. As I've pointed out before, all of that is incorrect...a product of right wing programming and planned content designed to give you (the conservative consumer) a very twisted and inaccurate view of the world.
I want to speak my mind in these threads. I can't prevent a conservative from believing lies and propaganda that they have been conditioned to believe. We can discuss the specifics and facts and talk about our thoughts about those lies and the people who spread them with malice. We can share information if folks are able or willing to read it watch the content for background or supporting/ clarifying evidence or reporting.
You get to decide if you want to be offended by correctly used words. Honestly, I might feel defensive too if the political leader of the party I associated with looked and behaved as a crime boss with sycophants. I would want to distance myself from that... not by complaining about the words used to describe them but by rejecting their lies and propaganda.
You may consider my views if you prefer...or you can take offense and talk around me rather than talk to or with me. That won't cause me to stop responding to your posts, however. You decide.

If I'm out of line I'm sorry. And of course you can say what ever you wish!
LOL! “Received better by others.. “. Oh TMB is well received newbie, don’t see anything wrong with TMB’s words especially when they’re right..

Weetywill this is hilarious. The chat is for self expression. Not to coddle your feelings. People can say what they want and clearly you are reading and responding. Stop if you want by all means or keep going, your choice

Is it a coincidence that conservatives in a discussion forum are offended by words and suggest that I should use different words while conservatives in communities are offended by the words in books and want those books removed? I don't think it's an innocent coincidence. Grievance seems to be a central theme in conservative social commentary, that's not an accident. IMV

And let's not forget that people who hold true philosophical conservative beliefs do not support Trump. They left Team Crazy years ago. They are not represented by the crazy people who represent the Republican party today. But I'm proud of my state for turning it's legislature non-Republican and restoring some sanity.

Hey Weetywill, what do you think about oenophiles and bibliophiles? I am both.
