I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.
My crazy magnet must be working overtime today.
QuoteThe right-wing news outlet Newsmax has cut ties with former war correspondent turned conspiracy theorist Lara Logan after she gave a bizarre QAnon-inspired rant on air, the company said in a statement.
The Guardian reported that Logan told Newsmax host Eric Bolling that world leaders "dine on the blood of children," referring to the blood libel conspiracy theory that proliferates in QAnon circles.
[...]
Newsmax, in a statement to The Hill on Friday, said it "condemns in the strongest terms the reprehensible statements made by Lara Logan."
The news outlet said that it has "no plans to interview her again."

18 hours ago, Tweety said:He really seems to have lost his soul on this one. His objection to felons voting is that they are disproportionally black and thus likely to vote Democrat. In a state where Republicans have one by less than a percentage point in some cases, this is important. He also wants to show voters in the upcoming race he's tough on fraud.
As you know, I live in Florida and trust me when I say that while there probably are a significant amount of people that believe the presidential election was stolen, voter fraud in Florida is not on our minds at all. Things like the high cost of insurance and the lack of insurance availability, housing, gun rights and violence (depending on which side of the fence you're on) and education are on our minds.
DeSantis is going to win the election easily. His handling of the aftermath of Hurricane Ian is getting good reviews from both sides of the aisle including me. This has caused him to rise enough points in the polls going into the election to seal the deal. He can relax and show a softer more understanding side but I'm not sure he's capable of that.
The only reason voting issues are discussed in Florida is because DeSantis made an issue out of a non-issue.
I would agree, the appeal is going a bit far if things are as reported in your articles.
Is that what he said is the reason he's against felons voting as per FL law, or your analysis?
Of course, that goes the other way too. Felons are disapprotiantly black. Blacks vote Democrat. So....

Is this an example of someone losing their mind and no longer comprehending the difference between fantasy and reality? Will she be a member of Trump's campaign team soon or turn into another crazy Kari Lake (professional propagandist/politician)?
On 10/22/2022 at 3:28 AM, Tweety said:Let me get this straight. An undocumented immigrant was hired illegally to get undocumented immigrants out of Texas. Can't make this stuff up.
It is unknown how much the DeSantis administration knew about what the contractor allegedly did.
Like I said, authoritarians use people in cruel ways to advance their agendas. Also, rules or laws don't really apply to them in their thinking. Conservatives are having a real love affair with authoritarians just now and a good bit of the rhetoric that swirls around this right wing mess is very inflammatory by design.
For Trump’s Backers in Congress, ‘Devil Terms’ Help Rally Voters https://nyti.ms/3skSlzY
QuoteThe analysis of tweets, facebook ads, newsletters and congressional speeches — more than 3.7 million items in all — relied largely on natural language processing, a technique that uses software to extract information from large amounts of text. The Times tallied words that were linked in academic research to divisive political content, as well as those identified by linguists and computer scientists to be used in polarizing ways — “fascist” and “socialist,” for example, “far right” and “far left.”
Republican representatives have ratcheted up such rhetoric since former President Donald J. Trump took office, the analysis found. In the year and a half after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, Republicans on average used divisive words and phrases more than twice as often as Democrats in tweets, and six times as often in emails to constituents.
At the forefront of this polarization are Republicans who voted to reject the Electoral College results that cemented Mr. Trump’s defeat last year. A recent Times investigation revealed how those lawmakers helped engrave the myth of a stolen election in party orthodoxy. Now, a Times analysis shows that the language of the 139 objecting members is markedly more hostile than that of other Republicans and Democrats. In their telling, those who oppose them not only are wrong about certain policies but also hate their country.
QuoteThe Times found that in the current Congress, representatives who fought certifying the election used polarizing language on Twitter about 55 percent more often than other Republicans, and nearly triple the rate of Democrats. Objectors referred to their opponents as “socialist” in more than 1,800 tweets, more than twice as often as other Republicans. Democrats called the other side “fascist” about 80 times.
QuoteThe Times examined Democrats as well as Republicans. In the first years of the Trump presidency, Democrats on average spoke in a more outraged way than Republicans on Twitter and in constituent emails. A few Democrats, including Representative Bill Pascrell of New Jersey, were among those lawmakers who most frequently used demonizing speech on Twitter, even into the current congressional term.
But Republicans have otherwise eclipsed Democrats, the analysis revealed. Republicans have more than quadrupled their use of divisive rhetoric since the early 2010s in the Congressional Record, which is dominated by stately and tedious speeches from the House floor.
QuoteAmong other things, the algorithmic techniques used by The Times compared statements with one another and with examples of known incendiary language. Similar tools are used in spam filters and by companies tracking discussions about their products on social media. (One complexity is that this technique cannot always distinguish between incendiary rhetoric and factual descriptions of antidemocratic behavior.)
Political scientists at New York University reviewed and corroborated The Times’s findings and said the results underscored a broad shift in Republican rhetoric. “We are clearly living in a time in politics where this kind of aversion is increasing, and also where we are seeing the emergence of an extreme faction in the Republican Party,” said Joshua Tucker, a politics professor and co-director at the university’s Center for Social Media and Politics.
Quote“They are using what are called ‘devil terms’ — things that are so unquestionably bad that you can’t have a debate about them,” said Jennifer Mercieca, a professor at Texas A&M University who studies the history of political rhetoric.
The intention is to stop discussion and dialog... we see that here with members rhetoric.
And this part stands out to me for obvious reasons;
QuoteThe rise of polarization is not limited to Republicans, though their rhetoric tends to be more combative. One of the legislators who has most often lashed out is Mr. Pascrell of New Jersey, who tweets almost daily about Republicans, particularly what he says are their efforts to “overthrow democracy” and install Mr. Trump as a “dictator.”
I guess it's polarizing to warn of Trumpublican efforts to undermine our elections and install Trump as something other than an elected president. I would suggest that these tweets aren't trying to polarize people, they are trying to defend the constitution and rally we the people to the side of democracy.

If you'd have asked me a two years ago I would have said it was left wing rhetoric, but seeing how there are still election deniers prominently in the Republican Party and regular republicans aren't trying to do anything about Trump but sucking up to him, I do have to wonder about their faith in democracy.
I will say that I don't like rhetoric left or right. In one of my links about Biden talking about gas prices in California (while eating ice cream) a senator tweeted that "Biden's policies are destroying America". Disagree with his policies but they are not "destroying America". I also think that saying republicans are trying to "overthrow Democracy and install Trump as dictator" is a bit much.

It's a bit much of what?
Isn't the undermining of free and fair elections a way to overthrow democracy? I would say that it's a common way to overthrow democracies...as common as using violence. What would we call a leader who is put into place without winning the election (as Trump wanted and still anticipates achieving)? What do you call an authoritarian "leader" who wasn't elected by the majority of the people and isn't beholden to laws or rules?

Okay there is a lot here. I wholeheartedly agree with the divisive language as a tactic and have perceived this for years and it’s not just in politics. I’m glad of the warnings posted and I’m sure they’ll be others but they will most likely fail in comparison to the information that the ops put out. It’s funny, because I don’t know why people are embracing this divisive rhetoric after we fought so hard against this type of society. We are going backwards and fast.

Yes. Republicans are pushing us quickly toward an authoritarian government using propaganda, projection and political theater. We've seen this movie before but conservatives may have slept through the plot line.
Has Clay Clark/Gen. Michael Flynn's Re-Awaken America tour visited your area yet? They came to Manheim, PA in Lancaster County --next county to mine past 2 days.
From AZ event
QuoteThe events feature a long lineup of speakers, including Gen. Michael Flynn, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, Judy Mikovits, Sherry Tenpenny, Mark Burns, Greg Locke and many others. Clark, who organizes and emcees each event, told Charisma, "The Reopen America tour is about killing the spirit of fear, exposing the truth about medical fraud, election fraud and the great reset, and sharing the truth that Jesus is King, and He's not done with America yet."

Frontline PBS/WGBH 10/7/22 article: Michael Flynn’s ReAwaken Roadshow Recruits ‘Army of God’
QuoteBy the time the red, white and blue-colored microphone had been switched off, the crowd of 3,000 had listened to hours of invective and grievance.
“We’re under warfare,” one speaker told them. Another said she would “take a bullet for my nation,” while a third insisted, “They hate you because they hate Jesus.” Attendees were told now is the time to “put on the whole armor of God.” Then retired three-star Army general Michael Flynn, the tour’s biggest draw, invited people to be baptized....
ReAwaken America was launched by Flynn, a former White House national security adviser, and Oklahoma entrepreneur Clay Clark a few months after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol failed to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Attendees and speakers still insist — against all evidence and dozens of court rulings — that Donald Trump rightfully won.
Since early last year, the ReAwaken America Tour has carried its message of a country under siege to tens of thousands of people in 15 cities and towns. The tour serves as a traveling roadshow and recruiting tool for an ascendant Christian nationalist movement that’s wrapped itself in God, patriotism and politics and has grown in power and influence inside the Republican Party.
Philadelphia Inquirer Opinion 10/19/2022: one pastors view who attended one of these events:
ReAwaken America proves that Christian nationalism isn’t Christian
QuoteAs a Christian pastor who went to Batavia at the invitation of deeply concerned local faith communities, the clerical collar and cross around my neck were my passport into this strange world. I was deeply concerned by what I saw....
...The ReAwaken America speeches touted antisemitic, racist, sexist, and homophobic beliefs in the name of Christianity. Speeches were rife with apocalyptic and polarizing predictions of God’s vengeance befalling a wide range of opponents, including the founder of the World Economic Forum, President Joe Biden, and New York Attorney General Leticia James, who had written a letter to the tour’s local host, Pastor Paul Doyle, voicing concern that this event could spur violence. In the parking lot, I spotted a bus painted with the words “Patriot Street Fighter,” along with an image of a man in body armor with a bludgeon in his hand and the words “Get in the Fight” written in the red font of horror movies.....
PA event this weekend was held at an indoor sports center instead of usual church location.
Buzz Feed news report of this weekends Manheim rally:
Pro-Trump Tour Flies Off The Rails Over ‘Demonic Satellites’ and ‘Deep State’ McDonald’s The “ReAwaken America” event was a whole new kind of crazy.
QuoteThe QAnon-peppered programming frequently flew off the rails Saturday, as speakers took severe issue with everything from McDonald’s being part of the “deep state” to “demonic satellites” controlling the voting system in the United States.
The day’s activities kicked off with a prayer asking for Trump’s eyes to be opened so he could be shown when to “implement divine intervention.”
“You will surround him, Father, with none of this deep-state trash, none of this RINO trash,” the speaker—who led the prayer—yelled as attendees thrust their hands into the air....
Other speakers included Roger Stone, Michael Flynn, Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano, and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, though the crowd favorite appeared to be organizer Clay Clark, who frequently took to the microphone to accuse McDonald’s of being part of the “deep state” and ask about Michelle Obama’s gender.
“What gender is Michelle Obama?” Clark asked. The crowd overwhelmingly yelled back: “Male.”
Then, without missing a beat, Clark began claiming there was a “war on food” and alleged a shady left-wing entity was pushing for the feeding of “insect burgers” to the masses....
Right-wing doctor Stella Immanuel, best known for her belief in demon sperm, urged attendees to pray that both satellites and voting machines be destroyed.
“We need to pray and crush… the demonic satellites. We need to send a holy ghost virus into their computers, to destroy them, so they will not function, or until our election is over,” she said, to the crowd’s applause....
I've never known that McDonalds was part of the deep state --their Iced tea 1/2 non-sugar, light ice finds its way into my car weekly with 10c change given to Ronald McDonald house. P.S: Mc Rib sandwich back this week in Philly area for those addicted.
I'm offering this nursing prayer in response to Dr Immanuel:
" Dear Lord, please let all the voting machines and apparatus work properly on 11/08/2022, allowing those with an open mind to VOTE for candidate of their choice who will PROTECT healthcare from further decline and allowing a womens choice over own healthcare needs. "

Penn Live: ReAwaken America tour hits Lancaster, and the audience finds uplift amid the angst
QuoteThe mantle of Christian Nationalism was repeatedly and lustily cheered Friday.
“We have done more good in the world than any other country in history,” argued attorney Thomas Renz, noted here for a lawsuit he’s brought against two scientists he blames for supporting lab research that created COVID-19. “”What part of that do you oppose?”
Evil, generally speaking, is assigned to a loosely-organized coalition of tech, business, media and government leaders whose success is determined by their ability to make money and lord over a passive population.
And finally, it is in large part an infomercial: From doctors giving a deep dive on natural substances people can use to keep themselves healthy, instead of Big Pharma’s vaccines - all on sale at special show prices in a pop-up marketplace at the back of the hall; to the financial advisor touting the benefits of buying gold as a hedge against the potential collapse of the financial markets.....
...The day didn’t always hang together, logically.
Lindell, the founder and CEO of the My Pillow franchise, argued that American elections are fully vulnerable to computer-based manipulation; but then closed his remarks by encouraging everyone to vote in person in the upcoming mid-terms - meaning voters would be using the very machines Lindell is worried about....
“If you overwhelm the system (with in-person votes) they can’t do it (execute a steal). They can’t keep up with it.”
There were some dark turns.
Attendees were warned about next-generation technologies - delivered in the guise of vaccinations and other methods - designed to destroy our individual free will, and subliminal attempts by Hollywood to sexualize children and separate them from their parents.
Salon: The ReAwaken America Tour is The Warped Tour for right-wing cuckoo birds
QuoteReAwaken America is described by Patriot-News as "part Christian crusade" and by Lancaster Online as a "dangerous mix of misinformation, Christian nationalism and divisive political rhetoric." In other words, it's intentionally divisive.

Living in a quiet suburb, was startled last night to hear cheering from winning 4th game as neighbors viewing outside. Fireworks going off now. City used crisco to grease lightpoles to prevent mayhem along Broad Street near stadium tonight from unruly celebrators.
