What caught your attention in the world today?

I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news.  I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

According to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.

Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.

The arrested the guy the next day.

What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

It's a bit much of what?

A bit much of left wing rhetoric for my mindset.  I'm not saying that those who deny the election results are not denying the American way of democracy.

I would agree, the appeal is going a bit far if things are as reported in your articles.

Is that what he said is the reason he's against felons voting as per FL law, or your analysis?

Of course, that goes the other way too.  Felons are disapprotiantly black.  Blacks vote Democrat.  So....

It's not just my analysis that he's made it harder for felons to vote because they are likely to vote democrat.

Florida voters approved voting rights for up to 1 million felons.  The law states that "voting rights shall be restored upon completion of all terms of sentence including parole or probation." with the exception of those convicted of murder and sexual crimes.

However he added the stipulation only if they have no outstanding financial obligations such as court costs and fines because this is what "all terms" means. He perhaps is right, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why he did this.

I'm not sure what your last sentence means since that is what I was saying.

Well me saying I am not saying they aren't....means the same thing.  LOL

My point being is they are not accepting Democracy and are not patriots but I also don't think they are trying to overthrow the government and install a dictator.  That's too conspiracy theory for me.  I'm sure they would love to all of a sudden find someone come up with some proof that Trump is the President for Biden to step down in disgrace.  I really don't know what they think because it's such a delusional thought that he's the President.

Republican activists who believe the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump have crafted a plan that, in their telling, will thwart cheating in this year’s midterm elections.

The strategy: Vote in person on Election Day or — for voters who receive a mailed ballot — hold onto it and hand it in at a polling place or election office on Nov. 8.

The plan is based on unfounded conspiracy theories that fraudsters will manipulate voting systems to rig results for Democrats once they have seen how many Republican votes have been returned early. There has been no evidence of any such widespread fraud.

Trump says this strategy makes it hard for "them" to cheat.

I remember the long lines the first time I voted here in Florida 30 years ago.  I remember voting early after a night shift, so people going to work were showing up as well.  I usually vote on Election Day and appreciate that so many people vote ahead of time that I usually just breeze in and out without a wait.  Best friend votes by mail and has his ballot but is still mulling over some things and hasn't turned it in.

But what if that's not rhetoric but is just an earnest warning? You just admitted that you are aware of the Trumpublican efforts to undermine our democracy with lies but you are off put by the warnings.

Conspiracy theory? What about the actual evidence that republicans are busily legalizing the tools to steal the next presidential election and may have already eroded the foundation of security for all elections.  They won't accept defeat as official results (Kari Lake is an example of that).  They prefer chaos that leads to power for themselves and whomever they identify as their leader... right now that's Trump.

Delusion is commonplace within that political cult of personality, Trump oozes delusion.

It came no where close to happening.  What are you talking about?  January 6th?
