I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.
Headline on the top of Fox News reads "Dem-run city rocked by another bloody weekend, 3 year old boy among dozens of people shot"
One of five stories about crime headlining Fox News. The second lead headline of course is about the border.
I sense a theme here with Fox News.

"Billy Eichner ripped on Twitter for fuming at 'straight people' not coming to see 'Bros'"
So for those that don't know "Bros" is a gay rom-com got rave reviews and major backing from big Hollywood and flopped with only 4 million at the box office. The lead actor Tweeted that's because straight people didn't come, and encouraged people that weren't homophobic weirdos to come see it, and then straight people wen wild.
He also noted that some theaters threaten to pull the movie because of the content.
Really he's probably spot on. Straight people weren't interested, and I don't think it's because they are "homophobic weirdos". Dozens of my gay male friends on social media have posted that they've seen it and loved it but not one heterosexual friend. Granted I whittled my social media friends list to just over 300 persons, a good deal them gay.
I plan on seeing it tomorrow. I can understand why gay people would love the movie and heterosexual people would pass.
It was been well documented that Hollywood is having box office woes as of late, so I'm not surprised at the "box office failure" of Bros. Although in the gay film genre $4 million is a big number. It's just that it has a big opening and a big budget that deemed it a disappointing opening.

Yes...grievance and disgruntled agitation are the current conservative themes running rampant through republican messaging.
Republican lead city (Miami) has a higher crime rate than New York.

And on a stranger theme ...
QuoteWhen the search party finally found the bodies of the missing hikers in the Ural Mountains, the scene was so horrifying and so confounding that it would inspire conspiracy theories for decades to come.
Frozen corpses. Strange injuries and missing body parts. Curious levels of radiation.
Each discovery was more perplexing than the last.
Who — or what — killed nine young and extremely experienced hikers on the slopes of Dead Mountain in western Siberia in 1959?
[...]
But after 63 years, two researchers may have solved the mystery with technology borrowed from the animators of the Disney movie Frozen.

These stories actually caught my attention yesterday, but I was looking for substantiation. Perhaps others can verify or refute:
Lee County order to evacuate rumored to have come late. https://www.npr.org/2022/10/03/1126486479/florida-officials-face-questions-over-the-late-evacuation-order-in-lee-county

Last Sunday — three days before the storm landed on the peninsula — the National Hurricane Center predicted that Ian could bring a storm surge of 4 to 7 feet from Englewood to Bonita Beach, which includes all of coastal Lee County.
According to the county's emergency management plan from 2018, even a 10% chance of a six-foot storm surge is enough to prompt the evacuation of Zone A. That includes the barrier islands, the shoreline and inland areas along the Caloosahatchee River.
But officials didn't order a mandatory evacuation at that time, even as neighboring Charlotte County required residents to go on Monday.
Also in Florida, the governor has put his wife in charge of administering funds donated to help Floridians. Yeah, that doesn't see fishy at all [sarcasm].

QuoteMrs DeSantis will lead the state's disaster fund, which works with public, private and non-governmental donors to provide financial assistance to communities as they respond to and recover from the hurricane.

We got our mandatory evacuation order here Monday night for the beachfront, almost four days ahead of Ian. I got my order for my zone on Tuesday. It wasn't until Tuesday at the 11:00AM update that the storm started to turn east to make a direct hit south of here so I decided not to evacuate. Up until that time Lee County was quite far from the predicted landfall so I can understand why they wouldn't order until Tuesday. But if there policy is 10% possibility then they do have something to answer for.

I wouldn't call it "fishy" because as the article says, political wives often have prominent roles. What better time to showcase a possible future First Lady than now? Also she can soften his image as someone who gives a damn, since his shipment of people to Martha's Vineyard was not viewed favorably with some voters here.
On the other hand it is a serious situation that he didn't ask for and he's doing the best he can.
I don't really have an issue with it other than maybe she's not qualified. She certainly would make a great fundraiser, but being in charge of those funds really should be a professional and non-partison job I would think.

82 year old Ringo Star was recently on tour here in St. Pete, headlining a band with other aging rock stars like Edgar Winter. I didn't go but I hear it's pretty good. Sadly he's ill and canceled a show yesterday.

MCCartney would have been 16 in that photo. He was have been 21 when they hit it big in the UK. The following year in 1964 mania came to the US and things were never the same. He's 80 now.
