I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

I don't disagree, and think Tweety pretty much nailed it.
And, who knows...others may actually be doing the work.
It's still unclear what is "fishy"?

My governor doesn't ask for earthquakes or volcanic eruptions, but he still directs his administration to prepare for them. And I'm pretty sure he would not put his wife in charge of administering rescue funds.
Yes, it does come with the territory just like patient death, codes and rapid responses comes with mine. Not sure what that point is about, but sure.
The hurricane has thrown DeSantis in the national spotlight at a time when he perhaps has Presidential ambitions and the heir apparent to Trumpism (if he would only go away) and while much of it is pre-planned preparedness how he handles it will be a huge test of his leadership. So far so good I would say. It's been noted that he's stopped the political nonsense and has opened communication with Biden. There will be a time for mudslinging later.
QuoteStorms and natural disasters have always presented challenges for presidents and local leaders. If handled well, they can cement their images as leaders of their communities, looking competent and trusted to help constituents get what they need. If mishandled, they can be major albatrosses that mar their legacies.

QuoteThe Kremlin praised Tesla boss Elon Musk on Tuesday for suggesting a possible peace deal to end the war in Ukraine, after Kyiv rebuked Musk for proposing terms it views as rewarding Russia.
"It is very positive that somebody like Elon Musk is looking for a peaceful way out of this situation," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in a conference call.
"Compared to many professional diplomats, Musk is still searching for ways to achieve peace. And achieving peace without fulfilling Russia's conditions is absolutely impossible," he added.
Fortunately, Musk doesn't represent ANY nation or country with a say in the matter. Musk believes that his opinion is valuable in this matter, it's just not clear who he believes values it.
‘Where Am I Going to Go?’ Floridians Hit by a Hurricane and a Housing Crunch. https://nyti.ms/3SxGzO4
QuoteAfter the storm, many Floridians, limited by low or fixed incomes, face finding a decent place to live in a state that is mired in an affordable housing crunch. The state’s enduring popularity, inflation and soaring rental costs have made it one of the least affordable places to live in the nation.
Already, an estimated 2.24 million households in Florida with incomes below $50,000 pay more than 30 percent of their income in rent or mortgage — more than a quarter of the total households, according to the University of Florida’s Shimberg Center for Housing Studies.
In counties that were under evacuation orders, less than 20 percent of homes have coverage through the National Flood Insurance Program.
Local officials and housing advocates worry about what the damaged housing stock will mean for people with low wages or fixed incomes. In interviews, some people said staying in water-ravaged homes is their only option.
It sounds like there will be some storm refugees in Florida. Hopefully DeSantis has some of that money left over for helping out these refugees after spending all of that money to abuse foreign refugees.
QuoteIt ravaged mobile and trailer homes; it submerged the first floors of houses and peeled the roofs off apartment buildings. The hurricane devastated and displaced many workers and families already living check to check — and often unseen in the shadows of coastal Florida’s luxury living.
It will be difficult for those workers to remain in their retail and service jobs when they don't have safe housing or transportation.
QuoteRental prices have increased by more than 30 percent over the last two years, according to Florida TaxWatch, a nonprofit research institute. Across the state, the median rent increased from about $1,340 in February 2020 to about $1,760 in February 2022.
“There was already a gap between what housing costs and what people can afford,” said Anne Ray, a researcher at the Shimberg Center for Housing Studies. “The communities that were hardest hit in Southwest Florida already had been seeing large increases in rent over the past year or so. A storm like this comes along and we could lose that critical supply of affordable housing.”
Holy cow.
The situation for housing prior to the hurricane was in. crisis mode. Rents have skyrocketed to unaffordable levels for renters. For homeowners insurance costs have skyrocketed and no one is immune. Housing was one of the drivers that made inflation in Tampa Bay where I'm front one of the worst in the nation. SW Florida is in no better shape.
Gas taxes have been dropped for the month of October (it's just a coincidence that it's right before the election) so gas prices are at least lower.

Let me clarify this statement. We are getting a gas tax holiday for a month, but it is only a coincidence that it's the month prior to an election.
QuoteFlorida drivers are seeing lower prices at the pump as a state gas tax holiday began Saturday.
The Florida Motor Fuel Tax Relief Act of 2022 went into effect on Oct. 1.
This suspends the state's $25.3 tax on each gallon of gasoline through the rest of October.
QuoteJoining Biden in Florida will be two of his most prominent Republican critics: Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Rick Scott, according to the White House and Scott’s spokesman. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre suggested Tuesday that it would be inappropriate for them to focus on political differences.
“There will be plenty of time, plenty of time, to discuss differences between the president and the governor — but now is not the time,” Jean-Pierre told reporters at a White House briefing. “When it comes to delivering and making sure that the people of Florida have what they need, especially after Hurricane Ian, we are one. We are working as one.”
I remember when Christie had to face criticism for being seen with Obama after Sandy. Now it's "let's put politics aside" which is as it should be. Trump overwhelmingly won SW Florida, especially Fort Myers Beach but doubtful they will criticize DeSantis.

Perhaps the governor is trying to get in front of media reports of his meeting with the president today.
Buzzword of the day "National Regime Media". Guess they don't like "Dem Run Cities" like Tampa and St. Petersburg and wanted us destroyed. Okay then.
Seriously though it was the models of the National Hurricane Center, Canadian and European Models that had it headed for Tampa. The media was just reporting it.
I just can't.........
