I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

Clearly I was making a point that this isn't isolated to an America black/white thing. What about that statement makes you think I'm okay with racism?

I know the mass shooting in Colorado Springs should feel like any other mass shooting but this one feels different to me. I remember going to my first gay bar in 1977 in a smallish town in North Carolina where I grew up. There was only one gay bar. Jesse Helms was one of our Senators. My parents had rejected me as well as my peers at school. I remember the feeling that "this feels right and natural and I can be myself and be accepted for who I am".

If you hit the arrow to the very top write of a quote it takes you to the original post without having to scroll back. Paramedic RN said "Almost every country has a long history of racial inequity, not just white on black, rather (fill in the blank vs fill in the blank) and ongoing in many third world and developing countries. Are you really suggesting that the only harm done throughout history in all cases has been a result of conservative beliefs?!"

It is different... it is a right wing extremist hate crime that specifically and intentionally targeted the gay community. That's different, in my view, from the right wing extremist violence that targets schools or other public settings without specific targets, and is different from mass shootings that begin as domestic violence but achieve mass shooting status because the angry and armed men kill anyone present who may be supporting their target.
Who made it possible for this killer to have a deadly weapon?
A interesting op ED from William Barr. I think most of what he says is spot on.

This was totally preventable. As usual another DA that refused to prosecute this guy last year when he threatened to blow up his own mother, and had a standoff with a swat team.

Trump lost because most Americans do not believe that Trump's disqualifying character flaws, corrupt transactional style of leadership and obvious lack of self control were over shadowed by the few policy victories that republicans count as Trump era victories.
It is an interesting change of tune for Trump’s former AG who lied to the American public about the Mueller report to defend Trump. Also, didn't Barr recently say in another interview that if Trump gets the party nomination in 24 that he would vote for him?

Do you think that the murderer's MAGAphile lawmaker grandfather had anything to do with that lack of prosecution, the way the court records were handled afterwards or in the ability of the angry young man to obtain that weapon of mass murder? Do you think his conservative republican and politically connected family helped with that? Or do you think it was entirely the discretion of the District Attorney at the time? The current and former DAs for that Colorado County are Republicans.

It’s entirely the discretion of the DA. I never said the DA was a liberal or Democrat. The DA needs to be held accountable and fired and whatever else they can do to him.

From the article: "Take his handling of COVID. The pandemic was not necessarily fatal to Trump’s re-election chances. " Such an ironic choice of words.
No it wasn't fatal to his re-election chances, but failing to move quickly to quarantine cruise ship and airline passengers, creating competitions between states to obtain PPE, and scoffing at masking was fatal to many Americans. He d**** near killed himself & Gov. Christi. He risked the health of his secret service contingent with his joy-ride stunt. His pandemic response was more than "pettiness and pointless nastiness."

Correct. You didn't mention the politics of the DA, I did. The current DA will be up for re-election in 2026. Maybe his judgement will be a campaign topic then. Maybe not, people have short memories it seems.

How do you know his grandfather was a "MAGAphile"? (Totally not in a derogatory way.....).
Perhaps the DA should have done his job without political affiliation influence from a "MAGAphile lawyer or not(whatever a "MAGAphile is") and prosecute this person after the stand off with the swat team?
The justice departments of our country should never be politicized.
It's a sad day to wake up to a tragedy such as this recent shooting and 8/10 Americans first question is, "was he a Democrat or a Republican?".
Then the politicians move immediately to "how can we use this tragedy to push our political agenda?", while the victims are all but completely forgotten.
This person should not have been able to get a gun and should have been in jail.
