I came across this is little story today, it's not breaking news. I suspect that a member of the housekeeping staff knows something about the bomb threat that required the sweep for weapons.

QuoteAccording to police in Secaucus, the bomb threat — which later was determined to be bogus — was called in to Hudson Regional Hospital on July 18. During a search, bomb detection dogs led investigators to an unlocked office closet containing dozens of firearms.
Among the weapons were 11 handguns and 27 rifles or shotguns, according to police. The closet also contained a .45 caliber semi-automatic rifle with a high-capacity magazine that was determined to be an assault rifle, and a 14-round high-capacity handgun magazine.
The arrested the guy the next day.
What the heck do you think this guy was doing? It sounds very ominous that he was keeping those weapons there.

It's a relatively good article.
I especially like the first paragraph. The part "the deep frustration of many middle-class and working-class Americans who were fed up with the excesses of progressive Democrats; the shameless partisanship of the mainstream media; and the smug condescension of elites who had mismanaged the country, sold them out, and appeared content to preside over the decline of America." seems a bit cliche especially considering the country was on an upswing and was doing rather well after the Great Recession. I think he gave voice to a more darker element within us.
But the main point that Trump is not electable is a good one and people should not nominate him in the primaries. Right now he's a distraction but there's two years to iron that out and get rid of him. I do think a strong Republican candidate can beat Biden, but not Trump. Obviously I'm not the only one.

Yes, the DA should have done his duty but the laws allow him discretion and people in that region are very fond of loose application of gun laws. After that bomb threat incident that had neighbors scrambling to safety the police didn't even trigger the state's "red flag laws" so I don't expect much to change.

Our first question is generally "why" and that often leads to "how were they radicalized". These acts of violence are a form of terrorism.

Then that’s on that community. But what we will see from the left (and we already have) is the call for more gun laws. If you ain’t going to enforce existing laws then don’t demand new laws.

Do you think that police in that Colorado county who didn't use existing laws are the same people who might demand new gun laws?

Am I wrong? Can you refute it?

QuoteThe Supreme Court on Tuesday denied former president Donald Trump’s efforts to block the release of his tax records to a congressional committee that has sought the information for years.
The court’s order means that the Treasury Department may quickly hand over six years of tax records from Trump and some of his companies to the House Ways and Means Committee.

It's a true statement after every mass shooting, we talk about gun laws, and then nothing happens, then another shooting...thoughts and prayers...demand gun reform.....nothing happens....and repeat.
From the link above, to me at 63 years old growing up in the world I grew up in, it's stunning when I hear a POTUS say things like this. The governor of Colorado said that he stands with the LGBT community. I'm not sure what DeSantis said. Sometimes I get so discouraged and dejected over things but Biden warmed my soul with this.
Quote“While no motive in this attack is yet clear, we know that the LGBTQI+ community has been subjected to horrific hate violence in recent years. Gun violence continues to have a devastating and particular impact on LGBTQI+ communities across our nation and threats of violence are increasing,” he said.
“We saw it six years ago in Orlando, when our nation suffered the deadliest attack affecting the LGBTQI+ community in American history. We continue to see it in the epidemic of violence and murder against transgender women – especially transgender women of color. And tragically, we saw it last night in this devastating attack by a gunman wielding a long rifle at an LGBTQI+ nightclub in Colorado Springs. Places that are supposed to be safe spaces of acceptance and celebration should never be turned into places of terror and violence. Yet it happens far too often. We must drive out the inequities that contribute to violence against LGBTQI+ people. We cannot and must not tolerate hate.”

Perhaps the DA should have done his job without political affiliation influence from a "MAGAphile lawyer or not(whatever a "MAGAphile is") and prosecute this person after the stand off with the swat team?
The justice departments of our country should never be politicized.
It's a sad day to wake up to a tragedy such as this recent shooting and 8/10 Americans first question is, "was he a Democrat or a Republican?".
Then the politicians move immediately to "how can we use this tragedy to push our political agenda?", while the victims are all but completely forgotten.
This person should not have been able to get a gun and should have been in jail.
You are correct - justice should not be politicized, and yet Clarence Thomas gets to keep his job after refusing to recuse himself. Corruption comes from the top.

Yes, I agree that each episode of LGBTQI violence becomes more depressing. Shooters never presented themselves to right wing rallies while speakers demeaned queer people. It's downright depressing that they can't see that their speech has consequences. Freedom.

Well, time was we used to ask "is he Muslim?", "Is he a citizen or not". I guess since 99.999% of the time the answer is "none of the above" we've evolved towards looking at homegrown terrorists and extremism. Not necessarily "is he Republican or Democrat".
There really is an outpouring of sympathy for the victims, at least in my circles, so I don't think they are forgotten in the conversation.
