Last year we had this 30 commercial created for allnurses.com. To be displayed at a nursing trade show.

Well it is that time again, for a new fresh video. I wanted to ask the users feedback before we make the next commercial. So what do you think we should highlight in a short commercial? Any keywords or themes we should focus on? Do you have any recommendations? You know best what your favorite features of AN. Let's make this a social project.
Of course, I waited till the last minute, only have til Friday to come up with ideas, so what say you?
Thanks in advance!

To be honest, the site is SO much better than that commercial... Someone on Facebook noted that it "covers the basics" about the site, and it does. I just don't personally think that this conveys how powerful the site really is. Those of us who read it regularly are emotionally invested, and I'd love to see the commercial convey that better. Maybe you need to interview a few nurses (and students and new grads) who use it instead of simply showing the discussion board. It's an excellent resource for information, a great way for us to connect with others, a good way to de-stress, and to hear about the things that inspire nurses to do what they do. I think your ad sells you short, and that would be a shame. I LOVE allnurses.com and as a student, I can't imagine getting into this field without it!

When it comes to videos, assuming you don't want people to forget them, I would say to do something that gives a little tug to the heart.
One example is, a commercial that Faith Hill did for Verizon several years back. It was only shown during the Christmas holidays were Faith used a Verizon cell phone to call her dad. It turns out that her limo, was just about to park (or near), in front of her dad's house. I remember seeing snow and a few words between her and her dad (not quite sure). I don't exactly remember the commercial, but I remember what I felt when I saw it.
Also, back in 1993 or '94 (I think)... it was a commercial about shiny clean floors were a diapered baby was running around w/ barefeet on his mommy's shiny kitchen floors. I'm not sure if baby was a boy/girl, but the baby was chubby and I think less than a year old w/ blonde hair. All smiles (with giggles AND dimples) and just running all over the kitchen using his walker? I'm not sure what it's called, since I don't have any kids.
Anyway, you can probably go over nursing stories posted on this site, and use them? They're supposed to be anonymous, so in a way... I guess you'll be safe. Advertising execs use this tactic all the time.

My reply probably wont be very helpful but I totally agree with the first reply, that commercial sold the site a little short. I think it should be made a little more personal somehow, and somehow convey how helpful and awesome this site is. I discovered this site just last week maybe browsing on the net for info. and I just want to say that I freakin love it!!:redbeathe
its answered a lot of my questions and I don't even think I'd be going for nursing if it wasn't for the info. I've recieved from the people on this site.
Thanks for the feedback! Keep it coming!

Just a bit generic for me. Doesn't "grab" my attention. Like the previous poster said, this site is so, so much more and much better than the 30 second spot.
I love this site. But the commercial just doesn't do it for me. Sorry Brian.
Thanks for the feedback, no need to apologize :) I agree, it's a bit boring too, doesn't convey what AN is about either. Which is why I am asking you all for your advice to see what you think would make it better
I want your honest opinion, not softball, warm fuzzy, feel good feedback :) Don't worry about hurting my feelings, let me have it!

Brian, I agree with the the first few posters. The previous PR is underwhelming. We do have an edge, and we are proud of it.
This edge, I view as a GREAT thing.
Allnurses nurses:
-belong to a subculture apart from the general population
-deal with things "outsiders" will never know
-have our own reality
-are highly skilled professionals
-are not who people think we are
-are elite
-are of massive experience and professional achievement
-mentor those who wannabee
-are compassionate but can also be cruel - we are double-edged swords
-can be our own saviors or worst enemies
-have a twisted sense of humor
-need each other

I think it needs images of real nurses (nursing students etc) in it, not just showing the forums. Maybe that would personalize it? Also, how about an awesome song?

I think there really needs to be more emphasis on the fact that nurses and nursing students come to allnurses to get emotional and professional support from their peers. You can get honest feedback on anything from job hunting to ethical dilemmas to the latest technologies being used in hospitals around the world. There's millions of members, yet it really seems like a close-knit community.
Maybe you could show a few examples of actual posts from the forum? Also, the voice in the ad seems like it should be selling computer software rather than this huge, awesome, professional, online community. Maybe it could use a little more energy? :)
