We Need Your Feedback for a New allnurses.com Video Commercial

Published

Last year we had this 30 commercial created for allnurses.com. To be displayed at a nursing trade show.

Well it is that time again, for a new fresh video. I wanted to ask the users feedback before we make the next commercial. So what do you think we should highlight in a short commercial? Any keywords or themes we should focus on? Do you have any recommendations? You know best what your favorite features of AN. Let's make this a social project.

Of course, I waited till the last minute, only have til Friday to come up with ideas, so what say you?

Thanks in advance!

It's good, but lacks the personal touch of this site - i feel like it's more of tight knit support system on here than that ad relays.

if it were my ad to make i think i'd do brief voice overs with some excerpts from posts along the lines of:

"I am a new grad looking for some tips on my resume"

"What's your hospital's policy on rowdy visitors?"

"I just had the most interesting thing happen to me on my unit..."

"I want to go back to school... can anyone give me some advice?"

"I had the worst shift and i need to vent..."

"What shoes do you find most comfortable?"

and so forth...

I'd probably film a nurse surfing on the sight while the voice overs play, like those are the threads that she or he is looking at, maybe throw in a few keyboard sounds and clicks for depth.

Follow with a tagline with the stats - 1.3M Nurse visitors a month - if you're a student, an experienced nurse or just curious about nursing , check us out!

AllNurses.com

But that;s just how i'd do it.

Allnurses.com offers support to all nurses. It's a place where nurses can go and ask advice from their peers, the only people that truly understand a Nurse's Life.

I love the idea of the voice overs!!!!! I cant begin to think of all the advice and support I have gotten from this site and all the wonderful nurses that are a part of it! It's kind of like an extended family especially on the school nursing specialty site!!

I think it needs to highlight nurses supporting nurses............maybe different nurses passing a chart or medication to another nurse from a different field........like a nurse in scrubs to nurse in suit to nurse in surgical garb etc.

Some ideas from me?

I think it should address nurses from all walks of life from the very young, the male, the international, the homosexual, the older people choosing a second career etc.

Why nursing is so valuable as a lifestyle

the resources for learning including boards of nursing

Supporting the nurse in trouble for an addiction

Supporting the nurse in trouble for an accidental death

Posting a support link for nurses who were set up by co-staff and lost her job and her license for being over tired and over worked. Meaning too high of a patient ratio with not enough time or energy to do it all on time.

All of this with a couple nurses looking online at allnurses, one (maybe looking upset, and searching for a resource for empowerment or comfort, and the other an older student looking for answers or links to questions she needs answered, with soft music in the background and someone narrating what they are doing.

Hopefully this will help

I think that the commercial should convey that it an avenue of reliable information from others just like you whether you are thinking about changing careers, a nursing student in school, a nursing student about to be a new grad, a nurse who is a few years in, or even a veteran nurse. The value of information that we are all able to share with each other is amazing. The commericial should feature people from these groups just stating simply what the site has done for them, make those who arent on the site curious about the site, and also make the commercial convey how we all depend on this site to stay connected in whatever is happening in our lives... in short.. you are not alone, somewhere someone else is experiencing the same feelings or situation.

Hi Brian;

Why not include a personafied post from one of these passionate Nurse posters.

When I looked at the commercial I thought this site was trying to appeal to a broader audience.

We should keep in mind that while this is a site for Nurses others also pay attention. Like those running for public office or selling some product/ service. Current and prospective employers.

Nurses will always find ALLNURSES.COM.

Maybe others need to know the power of this site.

I definitely agree the voice on the old commercial wasn't effective. It sounds too flat. Get a soothing voice that conveys passion for nursing but also compassion and empathy. In a female-dominated field, why not have a woman provide the voice? But it should be engaging, not so infomercial-ish. I felt like I was in an elevator listening to it... or at the grocery store at 2am or something.

I'm a student but have friends, acquaintances, and some family in nursing, and the ones that visit allnurses.com use it for peer support, professional advice, and lately, job networking. I'd also sell it on the students; if you get the nursing student to use it, and they find it valuable, they'll continue to use the site during their career. With thousands of new nursing students starting school every year, you could market it to veteran nurses, new nurses, as well as nurses-to-be, who will find it an invaluable tool for information, perspective, support, and networking.

And definitely show more than just the website forum links; perhaps intersperse images of nurses (standing there with the steth over the neck, arms folded, smiling in slo-mo like the hospital commercials do; doing patient care, and maybe have 2 collaborating over a chart to stress the networking aspects?), maybe fade out with a couple nurses walking down the hall with an arm over each other's shoulder, alluding to real, tangible support that one could find on the website? Just n00b ideas!

I think it needs to show actual people, not the forum. Looking at "words" do not reveal the true heart of AN. After all, its not just a "website" but its actual people who bond and help each other. Maybe show one nurse going home and trying to talk to her husband about her shift, he of course isnt "getting it" and isnt interested so she then goes to AN (show another nurse at a different computer) and they talk back and forth and create a bond. Then go to another scene (short ones of course) like a nursing student who has alot of questions and a nurse helping her out. Just something to show the world how its not just a website, but people all over the world who come to our "home" to get support. I dont know, maybe what Im saying sounds silly. :)

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I know this is pretty belated, but I feel Chenoaspirit hit the nail on the head! This is just a virtual link between REAL people. Awesome ideas!

When do we get to see the new commercial? Any production timeframes/estimates? Best wishes making the new advert!
