  1. If you decide not to retire so soon, the VAHCS has a big push going on to improve the education of its nurses. Check out this link: http://www.vacareers.va.gov/salary-benefits/education.asp So glad you are not my competition. Your credentials are impressive.:)
  2. MBARN- Love your user name. Hope you chose employment in the VA system.:)
  3. This strategy could backfire. You may be viewed as trouble maker. If you must call be POLITELY assertive.
  4. I would start with the school I plan to attend. Get the required book list and ask questions. Purchase the required text books for A&P and Med/Surg. Also ask if there is a syllabus available. You may also try to get a copy of the syllabus from a student that is advancing to the next semester. These steps may save you money, because you are investing in books that are required for your program. You may also save time because your study time is geared to what is needed to be successful in your Nursing program. much success.
  5. I would start with school. Purchase the required A&P & Med/Surg books used in your school. Ask the school for a syllabus or perhaps get a copy of the syllabus from a student that is advancing to the next semester. This save you time and money. Your will be focusing your study on the necessary course work and saving money by purchasing the required text. Much Success

  7. A million kudos to your post. There but for grace of God go us all.
  8. Are there protocol investigations in progress. I mean calcium chloride for a child is a serious medication for a child. Are pharmacy guidelines changing because of this error. Good Nurses are good to everyone except themselves. I empathize with the family of the child is no longer hear. But why did the investigation end with Nurse's death? Is this an experience that the entire health care community could learn from?
  9. Hi Brian; Why not include a personafied post from one of these passionate Nurse posters. When I looked at the commercial I thought this site was trying to appeal to a broader audience. We should keep in mind that while this is a site for Nurses others also pay attention. Like those running for public office or selling some product/ service. Current and prospective employers. Nurses will always find ALLNURSES.COM. Maybe others need to know the power of this site.
  10. Yes, this post helps so very much. Thank you.
  11. As long as capitalism reigns, nothing much will change. And thank goodness for that. What would happen to all us MDS Coordinators.
  12. I'd rather try again than, poke myself in the eye. The same shiny opportunity presents itself. Pay 10,000 for two semesters at a private Nursing School. OR Give it your best for the last time and pray:thankya: your nerves will agree with the fact that you can pass this CPNE.
  13. Have a new MDS COORD. position. $32 to start $34 after 90 days includes vacation, personal, holiday after 90day, LNHA is flexible. 120 beds 10 - 15 medicare, unit managers do their mds, care plans, and meetings for LTC residents.
