Mount Sinai Phone Screen
Should be 1:2, sometimes 1:1 depending on what's going on (Balloon pump, CVVH, etc.)

Accepted job at NYP-Cornell!
Congrats on landing an interview with NYP! Happy for you :) I can't even get one! I've been applying for a lot of positions now for quite some time and can't get anything very discouraging! If you do not mind me asking, what's your experience?

NEW NYC ADN graduates - where are you working?
I was a ASN and just graduated with my BSN. I have 4-5 years experience in the hospital and have a hard time finding a job! I really prefer NYP columbia or cornell but I can never land an interview There aren't even that much openings like before. Is NYP going through something anyone know?

NYP Hiring Process
Hey congrats! Can I ask what unit you interviewed for and what experience you have? I have been trying nonstop to score an interview for a full time position in NYP (Cornell and Columbia). And nothing! I have 5 years experience in telemetry with experience floating to coronary care unit.

Should I accept a job that offers more experience with less pay?
Do you plan to do psych long term? If not, then I say don't go for it especially if you will be taking a pay cut. Keep applying for other hospital positions. There are hospitals that hire occupational nurses for their employee health services.

Which hospitals in NYC hire associate degree grads
I just got my BSN and I have almost 5 years experience in Med-Surg Telemetry with experience floating to Coronary Care Unit and Post-interventional unit. I've applied to similar units in NYP and when I look at the status of my applications, it says "Not selected." Very frustrating and discouraging Anyone know why they would not select me? I have all the preferences and requirements they listed. So to those with Associates, having a Bachelors did not make it easier (for me at least). I guess I have to be patient. But still go for your BSN! It's the way to go! More doors will open up.

Becoming a Nurse Educator
I have 5 years experience in the hospital working on a telemetry, med-surg unit. I trained a bit in the MICU and CCU. I'm currently in a BSN program and planning to pursue my Master's but not yet sure if I want informatics or Education. I'm considering nurse educator because I precepted new grad nurses and realized I really like to teach in the clinical setting! Not sure if I should be a clinical instructor for a school of nursing or be a nurse educator in the hospital. Which one is better? Which usually pays more?

Nurse Retention
Definitely adequate staffing. I work on a tele/med-surg unit and the days we don't have staff are the busiest and make you want to quit nursing all together! But the days we have enough staff with a 1:4 1:5 ratio and 2 aides and a secretary..those are the best days and you feel like you can do your job right and leave work like you did everything.

NYP Pharm Exam
Don't give up! I have no idea what they look for. I have 5 years acute care experience, I will finish my BSN in 3 months. A recruiter called me the other day saying they were interested. When they asked about my BSN I told them I'll be finished in 3 months. Then she said she would save my information and told me to apply again when I get my BSN. I almost wanted to say, "Did you even read my resume? Why even call me and get me all excited?" At least they showed interest in my experience! But it was like a tease.

NYP or Mount Sinai??
Hey guys, I'm going to be done my BSN this summer and plan to apply in both NYP and Mount Sinai health systems. Has anyone ever worked for both? Which is better for nurses? Which one should I go for if I apply to both and happen to get offers for both? I know Mount Sinai is with NYSNA, but what about NYP? Which health system takes care of their nurses better?

10 yrs OF NURSING EXPERIENCE - CANT FIND A JOB
Very true. In the NYP online application they ask you your preferred salary range. I put something low for the hospital but reasonable for my living. Even if I get one dollar or more an hour than my current job, I will be ok. I only make $30/hr at my current job and I have 5 years experience. So anything above that would be better!

10 yrs OF NURSING EXPERIENCE - CANT FIND A JOB
I'm on the same boat, except I have 5 years experience. My biggest disadvantage though: I only have an Associates Degree. Will be done my BSN this July! And it is about WHO YOU KNOW. Even though I know some people who work in both NYP and Mount Sinai health systems as nurses or nurse practitioners, that isn't even enough. I asked them to help me, but they said they would have to know someone higher up just to help me.

Applying at NYP system
Yes! I agree, ChrisB718. We all took the same test so ADN's and BSN's should have equal chances of getting a job. It's all about experience, not degrees.

NYP Meet and Greet January 2016
WOW! Congrats, MCNURSE631! I really want to get a job with this health system. Just curious, were there any ADN's that were hired (but enrolled in BSN)? They emailed me few months back saying I have the experience but want someone who is already BSN. Frustrates me because in the online application when they ask the highest degree an applicant has, there's an option that says "eligible to obtain BSN in 3 months" which is me! But I always get the status "Application received; not selected" when I submit my application 3 more months and I'll be a BSN. Hopefully I will get something *fingers crossed*
