Hello All,
I am currently in the process of trying to get into the UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated program. I am not sure if there is a thread already started. But if there is not one I would like to start one. Hopefully we can use this thread and keep up with one another. Who else is hoping to get into UT Houston's Summer 2010 Accelerated program?
Hi everyone!!! Congratulations to those of you who have had interviews or upcoming interviews! I called the school morning and left a message with the nursing admin. I am on pins and needles. I still have not received an interview letter yet. Does anyone know how they choose applicants for the interview? I just pray they are still sending out letters. I am concerned also because on UT Link it still says my application is incomplete. The only thing that is missing is the TSI Exam scores. When I called prior to the application deadline they said not to worry about it, but it makes me wonder if that is why I haven't received a letter. Did anyone who received a letter have this same problem? I am also worried about my science gpa.
My stats are:
Nursing prereq gpa: 3.764
Science gpa: 3.0
Undergrad gpa: 3.583
Net Reading: 77
Net Math: 94
I just hope they call me back and I can find out if they are still sending letters.
Can anyone that has interviewed already give us nervous ones a clue about what to expect???
LPSJones ~ If UTlink says your application is incomplete, that is probably what is keeping them from sending a letter. I would continue to call and have someone clarify WHY it says this? I would also ask them directly if that would affect your chances of receiving a letter or if it is because of your science gpa. Don't give up! You've worked very hard to get to this point and it would be a shame if this was due to some clerical error. Best of luck ~ let us know how things go.
Well, good news...After talking to one of the nursing admissions admin today I found out that they had not even reviewed my application because their records showed that I had only completed 17 out of the 60 hrs prereqs, when in reality I had completed all of them. She said that it wasn't to late to correct the problem if indeed it was a mistake on their part. When she called me back after the initial phone call, she said that they found it was a mistake and that this is was why I had not received a letter. She did say though that I would be receiving a letter in the mail. I am so glad that I called because if I didn't call I would have been overlooked due to an error. So if any of you are unsure of why you haven't received a letter for the interview call and find out why. I am not sure when my interview will be, but only assuming it will be next week or the week after. I am very excited!
Hello everyone! LPSJones glad you got your letter coming.
I had my interview last week and it was pretty...easy. I was so nervous I am not sure how I did since I kept repeating myself LOL. We sat in this room for a little while and do the questions whihc were mainly on computer stuff. Also had to write a essay on a given scenario, like what should the nurse do....
They said we will not know till maybe March or April....eeek that is forever from now!!
Thanks a million Bach09 for your post and best of luck to you Aggiehorn!!! I'm sure you'll do great. I know this is a very nerve racking time for all of us right now but I think venting here can really help. We share that common bond. Can't believe we really have to wait until March or April to find out. That seems like forever from now. Hopefully time will pass quickly. Good luck everyone!:)
Hello everyone!
I have been scouring this site for information on the interview process, reading all about past interviewees' experiences from 2009, and just found this thread. I don't know how I missed it. I have my interview tomorrow for the 2010 summer Accelerated BSN. I am soooo nervous!!! I made it this far before, about five years ago, but I was not totally committed and it must have shown during the interview. I am so ready for this opportunity now and I am so nervous that I will not be able to sleep tonight!
I am going conservative and wearing a suit.
Good luck to everyone!!!
Well, I survived the interview and like bach09, thought it was a relatively simple. Not as grueling as I had imagined. I left feeling pretty confident and the faculty who interviewed me was awesome. I thought I would feel so relieved after the interview, but the agony of waiting has already set in lol. They told us that they are interviewing 200 candidates for 60 openings. I also read on another thread that our status will probably be updated in utlink before we recieve a letter, so I'll be checking that frequently! Good luck to everyone and please post as soon as you hear something!!
Aggiehorn, I was there yesterday too and like you, I felt that the interview went well. Today, I am going absolutely insane and this is only day one of waiting! I have to admit that I have already obsessively checked my UTLink to see if there was a status change. ha! Wishful thinking huh?
Good luck to you! I realized in the last minute that I did not have my Philosophy prereq completed, so I signed up and am taking it now. How did I miss that? Glad i figured it out though.
