Hello All,
I am currently in the process of trying to get into the UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated program. I am not sure if there is a thread already started. But if there is not one I would like to start one. Hopefully we can use this thread and keep up with one another. Who else is hoping to get into UT Houston's Summer 2010 Accelerated program?

Hi :) I am also hoping to be accepted to the Accelerated BSN Program starting in the summer of 2010. I have submitted everthing for my application to be complete except for my NET scores. I am taking it on Nov. 21st. I am wondering when they will start sending out interview letters. Have you already completed your application? Thanks!
Hello LPSJones,
I am happy you replied. I am glad to hear from someone else out there that is applying to UT Houston. Yes, I have completed my application. According to the other threads I think they will start sending out interview letters as early as January but definitely by February. I took the NET exam Oct 24 but I am retaking it because I am not happy with my scores.
Well good luck on your exam and on being accepted. I will post as soon as I hear anything from them. Was the NET exam hard? I bought a study guide and it seems pretty easy. I am hoping it is very similar to the actual test. Have you applied to any other programs? Thanks :) Have a great day!

hi there. i am also hoping to be accepted to the accelerated (bacc2) bsn program summer of 2010. i already submitted everthing for my application. by the way, any idea what is/are the accepted net scores for the program? goodluck to all of you! if i hear anything i'll post it here.
I called the school the other day and was informed that if you did not make at least a 70 on the reading portion of the NET exam they will not even interview you. I am sure you also have to do well on the math but it is the reading portion of the NET exam that is kicking everyone's but.

Hi everyone! I also applied for this program and semester.
I also applied at Texas Tech University (Austin location) and UHV. I received my invitation for an interview with TTUHSC for 11/17 and got an invitation for UHV today scheduled for 11/30.
I would honestly like to stay here in Houston so I'm hoping I get called for an interview for UTHSC-H also.
Also, I took my NET exam back in August. I bought the review book directly from ERI World, as they are the ones who write the exam. My experience with it was HORRIBLE, not because of the material, but because the fire alarm went off for about 20 minutes during the reading portion!:angryfire Fortunately, they allowed us retake not just the reading section, but all the other sections as well the following week if we wanted to. I opted to do so and did significantly better the second time around. My advice to you guys who haven't taken it is to follow the step by step tips in that review book. The review book had 60 practice questions for the math section and you are allotted 1 minute per question. On the actual exam, you have 30 math questions and also 1 minute/question. The reading section is quite difficult if you have forgotten terms like "central theme", "tone", "main idea", etc. It seems pretty elementary at first, but you'll be surprised how much you've forgotten since 6th grade. LOL. I know I was incredibly shocked.
Good luck to all of us and for those of you taking the NET soon, good luck too! I'm sure you'll do great!

Hello all, I have applied and am just waiting on my NET scores to be received. I had then sent on Oct 27th and they still dont have them so I am getting nervous that they will not have them in time.
Oh and they said it is 70 on both math and reading :) Is anyone going to the information session on the 24th?

Hello,
I too am a hopeful for the Summer 2010 program. I am taking the NET on Nov. 14, 2009, the first time I went to take the exam it was compromised because the proctor brought the wrong booklets and didn't realize it until after we had finished the math portion of the exam. Im praying that I feel as confident this time around as last time.
Good luck to all of us who are awaiting a decision from UT...
KStar, I am also applying to the TTHSC/Abilene program but for the fall 2010, I was wondering if you would mind telling me your stats, just want to know if I have a chance of getting an interview with them. Also, do you have any healthcare experience?

KStar - I took the NET on the same day you did when the fire alarm went off. That was one of the worst experiences ever. Studying for weeks to have that happen was absolutely terrible. Second time around was much easier and I did exceptionally better on all parts. Thank God.
I would say the Reading portion was the most difficult. Math (which is typically my toughest subject) was the easiest. Science was difficult to study for since it's such a broad subject but the questions weren't as tough as I thought they would be and the Written Expression portion was relatively easy as well. Thankfully, UT doesn't look at anything except Math and Reading but I highly recommend studying for the Reading. It's the time restraint that gets everyone. Thirty-three questions in 30 minutes is no fun.
Good luck!!!!!!
mlh0283,
I hold an undergraduate degree from the University of Houston - Main campus, B.S. in Psychology and Health. My GPA is a 3.78. I'm also taking pathophysiology online with TTUHSC as we speak. Yes, I have medical experience. I was CNA certified back in 2006 and worked for a 1 1/2 years as a CNA while going to school. Prior to my CNA certification, I worked as a medical assistant for a private family practice and was trained in many back office procedures, including phlebotomy, administration of injections, etc. I learned a lot during my tenure there but I had to quit because I couldn't handle going to school full time and working that many hours. I also have volunteer experience as an activities coordinator at an assisted living center as well as at a wound care unit for a small community hospital here in Houston.
Just gotta stay optimistic...
What about you?
JSanz8,
Haha! What a coincidence! I was so ******! I went home and e-mailed UHV and UTHSC about what happened. The following Monday, they responded quickly and said that they had already been informed about it and that retaking it wouldn't be a strike against us. *whew*
