Hello All,
I am currently in the process of trying to get into the UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated program. I am not sure if there is a thread already started. But if there is not one I would like to start one. Hopefully we can use this thread and keep up with one another. Who else is hoping to get into UT Houston's Summer 2010 Accelerated program?
texcat, what were you wearing yesterday? It's always nice to put a face with a name and I wonder if I talked to you. :)
ladykee96, yes, I was asked if I had taken any A&P more than once and where I had taken it. I don't see how an A could hurt your chances, regardless of where you took the course. We all know that even different professors at the same school can be more or less challenging!
Yes, she asked me the same about my A&P's. Those were hands down my favorite classes. I took mine at A&M and she said that all of the Community Health Ed majors from A&M did very well in the program. I hope that is a good sign because that was my major.
Aggiehorn, I had on a black pinstriped suit with a lavender button up shirt. I have short (about jaw length) blonde hair. I am guessing who you are because I saw your aggie ring. Did you have on a black suit as well, with long blonde hair? I was sitting on the side where the handouts were.
Yup! That was you Aggiehorn. Blonde hair in a pony tail. It is good to have a face to put with a name. GOOD LUCK! I am obsessively reading everything I can. Did you say you were still completing some prereqs this semester? I had totally forgotten about all that. I enrolled for a Philosophy class. That makes me nervous to not have it all done, but I figure if it is not one of the main science prereqs, we will be okay.
I am totally INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE right now! :)
Insane in the membrane, lol...that's a good way to describe it! Yes, I am taking ethics and nutrition this semester. Visiting with several people before and during our interview, it sounded like alot of people are still finishing up, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. An advisor told me that as long as the courses were completed by the start date, I would be fine. GOOD LUCK to you too!
Hey y'all,
I have a couple of questions for you. I have been trying and trying to talk to someone about my prerequisites for at least a month now. I finally got someone to help me. So...my question to you is, what visual/performing arts elective did you all take? I just signed up for Arts Appreciation and I hope that this one works, as I cannot find anywhere on the UTHSC site what visual/performing arts electives will be accepted. In the past, my speech communication elective counted but it no longer does.
Also, did you all receive your transcript evaluation that let you know what prereqs you still needed?
Thanks!
Hi Everyone!
I had my interview yesterday and felt pretty good about it. The competition here is pretty tough! They said 750 applied, 250 interviewed, and they are taking 60. Wow!!! Now we just get to play the waiting game...till March 15th. That seems like forever to sweat this out! My hope is that we all made it in!!!
Texcat ~ I did receive a course evaluation sheet some time ago. If you haven't, I would certainly request one so that you will know what you are missing. I took Intro to Theatre for my V&P Arts credit. I would think the class you are taking would work, but I would ask just to be sure. Good luck!
Texcat, I believe I took music appreciation from Kingwood so I am sure that will be just fine. Yes I did receive a course eval and it helped out a lot, I just need Micro, nutrtion and family development...which is weird since my bachelors is in Psyc LOL
Good Luck all...when are the interviews over with?
Well I called several times and finally spoke to someone about the transcript evaluation so they should FINALLY send me one within the week. I am taking Philosophy, Art Appreciation, and Govt II since I didn't do so well in the second Govt in college...
I am freaking going insane and we have like a month and a half to wait to find out if we are in! aaaaaahhhhh! GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL! Too much caffeine this morning. :)
Hi texcat, glad to hear they are doing a transcript eval for you. It really helped me. I assumed they would accept my statistics for animal science majors, and they were not going to at first, so I had to provide some additional info on the course and they did accept it. Art appreciation does count. I had to take an arts credit as well (it wasn't part of core curriculum back when I graduated A&M :-)), and art appreciation was one of the classes the advisor listed for me. I just took American Music in the mini-mester.
bach09, I am not positive, but I'm thinking this is the last week of interviews because all of our names on Tuesday were at the end of the alphabet, other than those that had been rescheduled from a previous date.
Happy waiting everyone!!

Hey guys. I think everyone had a good interview yesterday. Did they ask all of you whether you took your A&P classes at a community college or University? At the end I asked whether it made a big difference in admittance to the program. She would only say that the school noticed how some branches of some community colleges handed out As more freely. I thought this was interesting.
