UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated Program

Hello All,

I am currently in the process of trying to get into the UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated program. I am not sure if there is a thread already started. But if there is not one I would like to start one. Hopefully we can use this thread and keep up with one another. Who else is hoping to get into UT Houston's Summer 2010 Accelerated program?

I'm a current UTH nurisng student There are a few people in my class that have the 3M Littmann Master Cardiology Stethoscope, but most people just have the classic II or lightweight. I would say the classic II would suffice, but it's your call. I have the classic II. Oh and they don't care about the color :)

I would get any Littman steth like everyone has mentioned. I got my packet and was reading through the requirements and they recommend the Littman though they didn't really require that specific brand :)

What else do we need to get as far as uniform type things? Scrubs, shoes, stethoscope, pen light. Anything else?

Looking at the list, here are supplies needed: white lab jacket, navy scrubs, white shoes, white socks, UT name pin (at least 1), school patch (at least 2), stethoscope, penlight, watch with a second hand,non-programmable calculator, and blood pressure cuff kit (which is optional).

All these things are apparently available at the SON bookstore for convenience (they have the prices on the sheet I'm looking at and most are reasonable althought im sure you can buy some items for a cheaper price somewhere else). But again, if you don't want to go to different stores trying to buy everything, the bookstore should have all these available.

Do they happen to recommend a brand for the blood pressure cuff? Sorry for all the questions, and thanks for all the info! I'm so ready for my packet to come in!

caj134 - Nope, there is no recommended brand for the blood pressure kit.

I hope you and everyone else will get your packets soon. The letter of intent and registration fee is due April 5th, so they didn't give us a lot of time to respond back to them.

hey everyone! i just have a quick question for yall :) i applied for the generic program and people are slowly finding out acceptances and i was just wondering over how many days everyone found out? and did it update throughout the day? meaning you checked in the morning and said pending and then checked later and then you were accepted. bc ive been told that it updates throughout the day or that it updates only in the morning haha so yeah thanks guys and congrats to everyone who got in!!

I'm pretty sure that UT link only updates overnight. I checked the status at night and then the next morning it was updated with a provisional acceptance. I think UT updated the status for accelerated admission for more than a week. I'm sure more will be accepted to the generic program as people start declining admission.

Hello all!! I just checked my link and it says "conditional acceptance, conditions of acceptance will be mailed" and all my holds are listed...what does this mean??????

Also when I clicked on Summer nothing showed up like normal, so i clicked on Fall and that is when I saw the conditional acceptance...does this mean I am in for Fall? Either way I can not believe it!!!! :)
