Good point. I agree with you. I suppose I just got caught up with what in my head became an "either - or" situation---making the CNA feel important vs. saving a life. And it's not, you can be respectful, while still making it about the patient.

I believe certain users need a debriefing on Maslow's hierarchy. Physical needs come before psychosocial, people! If a CNA is arguing with me about something of considerably less significance, while I'm trying to save a patient's life, darn right I'm going to kick him to the curb. Priorities, people! If I'm trying to resuscitate a patient, either assist me or stay out of my way.

You remind me of a someone I know. This husband was cheating on his wife, and the wife's friend witnessed it. The friend tried to tell the wife about what she saw, but the wife became angry and refused to believe that her husband would be capable of cheating. The wife then accused the friend of being "jealous of her good marriage." Five years later the wife finally caught her husband with another woman. You are that wife. Before you get into nursing school, try to learn the difference between negativity and reality.

That's about as close as you can get to telling me I'm in the wrong field. I don't think I was clear enough for you. Your opinion will be far more valuable to me once you have gotten a few semesters of nursing school under your belt.

Where in Texas are you located? You can believe what you want, but many qualified graduates (yes even those with positive attitudes) are not finding jobs. A positive attitude only takes you so far.

Yep, I'm aware of this. My primary point of this thread was to draw attention to the fact that Houston is getting another nursing school (something we absolutely do not need). I wonder what type of student will be attracted to U of St. Thomas? Probably one that cannot get into the cheaper UT, TWU, UTMB and Prairie VIew schools (heck even HBU is cheaper.)

Why??? Because I genuinely care about these future nursing students. My program is free. How common is that? Not very. Sure pursue it if you have the time and money---to not be guaranteed a job at graduation. I'm telling you all of this based on all of the students that graduated in December.
