UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated Program

Hello All,

I am currently in the process of trying to get into the UT Houston Summer 2010 Accelerated program. I am not sure if there is a thread already started. But if there is not one I would like to start one. Hopefully we can use this thread and keep up with one another. Who else is hoping to get into UT Houston's Summer 2010 Accelerated program?

I dream: How long did it take from the interview? Or what do you mean exactly?

Let's see... I had my interview last September and I found out...in early November I want to say. Then we had orientation in December and boot camp in January. Boot camp is a 2 day optional information session that they offered us. It is not absolutely required but it definitely gets you used to the school, professors, classmates, and sitting for a loooong time (we had very long lectures at the beginning of the semester).

gg14: I'm not sure how much help I would be to you accelerated students since most of your classes will be online. We are in face to face lecture 3x a week (it was 4x a week at the beginning of the year) and clinicals 1x a week. Sorry, I don't know a lot about your program :( I just know that it is extremely fast-paced and that you will be graduating in May 2011 with us! :)

Random note: if any of you have taken patho or pharm previously, try to see if you can get out of the patho or pharm in your first semester by replacing your class with the uthsc-son's class (that will probably help your work load a lot). There were a handful of students that came in spring 2010 who got out of one of those classes. You can get this taken care of during your first week of classes...I highly doubt they will take care of it right now if you told them.

soooooo... I'm getting annoyed with Student Services! They wont tell me anything! I give them my A#, told them that I'm accepted and I just want more info on what to do now, and they keep saying to wait for my admissions packet! That won't get here until April! I have to move back to Houston so the sooner I get things done, the easier the transition will be. Convenience is not high on their priority list.

What kinds of things are you trying to figure out from the student affairs office? I've been trying to call them to get information also, and I've gotten a few things here and there. Thought I might be able to help if they had given me any of the information you were looking for. I agree though, they are so unhelpful! How hard is it to answer a few questions?!

I just checked UTLINK and I have been granted provisional acceptance! AAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!

I have provisional admission on mine too!!!!!!

What does that mEAN?? WHEN DO WE GT OUR ACTUAL ADMISSION LETTERS???

My UT link was just updated this morning with a provisional acceptance!! I interviewed on Jan. 12th, anyone else interview that day?

i INTERVIEWED THAT DAY. I WAS THE FIRST PERSON CALLED B/C MY LAST NAME STARTS WITH B.

I HAVE PROVISIONAL ADMISSION!!!!!!

where are you moving from? I will have to move too after i graduate from dallas. I have provisional admission too!!!!!! Now what?!?!?

I am moving from Dallas too and looking for someplace to live! Any ideas??

Just wait for the admissions packet...that will tell you a lot more than anyone will over the phone...trust me. Our class had the same problem; we didn't get much turn over time between the fall and spring semester (just about 1 month or so). There are a few students in my class from dallas and they all got places to live just fine. Could I ask when your orientation is? They sent our class an admissions email to our personal email address that tells you when the orientation is and the first day of class, etc. Did you guys get one of those?

Relax and enjoy the time that you're not in nursing school because when it starts... it hits the ground running!
