Thanks for posting the name of the FB group--I just requested membership!

Is anyone else relocating for the program? My husband is staying in Dallas with our home and his career :crying2: while I complete the program, but I'm told we wouldn't see each other much regardless of where I go to school!

I'm looking for someplace inexpensive, safe, and close to school. I'd like to walk, ride my bike, or utilize public transportation if possible. Does anyone have any ideas??

To everyone who is still waiting: keep up your spirits! What is supposed to happen will. I graduated from college in 2005, so I can tell you first hand how many twists and turns your life will take. It really is about enjoying the ride!

congratulations to all who got in! and for all those still waiting, i'll keep you in my prayers. i just found out yesterday i got in, so im super ecstatic! :)

i'll join the facebook group after Lent (i kinda gave it up for lent haha) but if anyone could keep me posted about any information posted up, that would be awesome.

Again, congrats to those who got in and I'm excited to see everyone once school starts!

gg14, congrats! I can help keep you updated on the fb page. If you just found out that you got in yesterday, that means they are still giving out acceptances! So I'm still crossing my fingers for those still waiting to hear back!

ladykee, thank you, that'd be so great!

I still dont think it's hit me yet, but im super happy nonetheless. only thing left to do is get all my immunizations taken care of, which im a little worried about since all my shot records from when i was younger were lost. So I basically had to start over.

Hope you guys aren't having any trouble with the rest of the requirements needed!

gg - congrats on getting in. if you don't have your shot records, you can have a serum antibody titer to show that you have been immunized for the measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella.

That is what I will probably have to do because I cannot even remember who I got those shots from!

texcat - yea, i got my titers for MMR and varicella and HepB. Im fine for the first 2, but i have to redo my HepB since i dont have enough antibodies. Problem is, its a 3 dose vaccination and takes 6 months in total to finish. Im wondering if this will be problem.

Hi, I just started this program this past january, and I thought I could help answer the vaccination question:

The health center really doesn't care if you have the titers to verify that you have the antibodies. Really, if you say that you had the MMR vaccine (for example), then that is all they care about (so if you get sick, it's your fault that you didn't get the vaccination). In regards to the Hep B series, if you start your first vaccination in the series, that should be fine. You'll probably get your first two in before clinicals start (estimating you'll start those in June sometime) since they need to be a month apart. We recently started clinicals about 2 or 3 weeks ago and I still don't have my 3rd shot because I cannot get it for another week... so it's fine!

I called the health center and they said the same thing about the Hep B series. They say as long as i get my first 2 shots in, I should be fine. Do you have any other advice for us newbies? :)
