The choice to not take the COVID vaccine I feel is not defendable. The facts are that 99% of hospitalizations/deaths due to COVID are unvaccinated patients currently. This has caused a more severe strain on a already extremely stressed hospital staff, shortage of equipment and services, injury and death from other causes due to delay of care and suffering of everyone involved in the hospitalized COVID patient among other issues. Virologists report delta and other strains are accelerated and created due to the numbers of unvaccinated people in the US. The fact that vaccination rates have only increased about 20% since July with the information available is appalling, while there are 130k new infections daily in the US. This should not be a personal or individual choice and appears due to unfounded anxiety, medical or religious exception and or politics.

Whether it's that the vaccine changes your DNA, Covid is an exaggerated myth, or that it's all about the Lizard people (or reptiloids) it's hard to impossible to find that common understanding of the facts as a starting point.
I got the impression it was a QAnon thing.
Oh yeah them too.

And for good measure threw in the claim that the ship that got stuck in the Suez canal was Hillary Clinton's personal child trafficking ship, which was so obvious because her secret service code name was "Evergreen", and the ship had the word "Evergreen" painted on the side. "It was so obvious" as she pointed out.
One thing I will admit about her argument; She has no need to defend it because I can offer no counter-argument to it.
Wow. I don’t like Dr. Fauci so much anymore and was never a big Hillary Clinton fan, but dang, those statements are so screwed up! I mean, there’s zero credibility in any of that….and what does it have to do with getting a potentially life saving vaccine not just for the one vaccinated but all the people they interact with over time that they aren’t vaccinated?…..that is probably the most messed up antivax excuse I have heard for this vaccine.

Covid and the vaccines were all part of their plan to manipulate and control the human population. And that we'd all be finding out about the Lizard People on Wednesday. Needless to say we were very disappointed when Wednesday came and went without any big revelations about the Lizard People.
But yet her arguments were easily defensible, as I know of no logical, reasoned, or rationale evidence to disprove what she was saying. You can't reason with the unreasonable.
Somewhere in America, a psych unit is missing one of their most popular patients that pretends to be a nurse? That story just went from so crazy I was laughing (either that or cry or scream?) to so bizarre I’m speechless. I can usually think of a snappy comeback with crazy statements, but that co worker may be mentally unhinged….

I have a feeling your coworker has a very close relationship with his/her internet search browser as do so many of my patients-if it’s on the internet it must be true…..smh…..that little search bar is the Antichrist!

I very much hope your employer is mandating the vaccine for staff so she either has to take the hated shot, or get fired. Good riddance.

Darn it, you made me look. I’ll admit, only a few seconds before I called BS, I try to stay out of too much political crap and stick to what seems logical. If that’s the reason for being against vaccination…..again, why??? And as much as I wasn’t a big Hillary fan I wasn’t exactly thrilled with what was behind door number two. I don’t think Either had THAT kind of crud in their closet…but either way it’s not going to change my thoughts that vaccines are necessary.
My 11 year old realized they’re following the Greek alphabet for naming variants-one is pronounced a way that will not be accepted by many-let’s hope we don’t get that far down the alphabet….and if an 11 year old called it out you know someone else will too…

Or
How can you tell that someone is a reptilian?
The problem is that a main premise of these conspiracy theories is that there will be those who disagree with you and may even tell you that your claims are delusional. So when you point that out to them you are only reinforcing, rather than delegitimatizing, their beliefs.
ie, You're not a voice of scientific based reasoning, you are part of the grand conspiracy.
On another note our very flawed for profit health system run by greed etc probably will stop paying for unvaccinated patients hospitalizations. A single bag of TPN is $1000, same for a six pack of platelets so a one month stay could average 200k that the insurance companies and hospitals could go after their estate or if the patient survives whatever assets they can get.
This is a well written, nuanced explanation to the vaccine hesitant.
I believe the author may have used a word that could violate terms of service, but I don't think posting the link violates TOS. And, as an educator, I can tell you it is important to use language the learner can relate to.

MunoRN-but that’s part of the problem the anti-vaccine folks don’t believe facts about the vaccine etc. it’s like they have been brain washed.
