Unvaccinated: Indefensible

The choice to not take the COVID vaccine I feel is not defendable. The facts are that 99% of hospitalizations/deaths due to COVID are unvaccinated patients currently. This has caused a more severe strain on a already extremely stressed hospital staff, shortage of equipment and services, injury and death from other causes due to delay of care and suffering of everyone involved in the hospitalized COVID patient among other issues. Virologists report delta and other strains are accelerated and created due to the numbers of unvaccinated people in the US. The fact that vaccination rates have only increased about 20% since July with the information available is appalling, while there are 130k new infections daily in the US. This should not be a personal or individual choice and appears due to unfounded anxiety, medical or religious exception and or politics.

I had a fellow nurse the other day explain to me that the Covid vaccines are all tied into the fact that Covid was invented to facilitate Child trafficking because the 'elites' harvest adrenochrome from children to use as a sort of youth serum, and that Fauci is one of 'the worst' of these child traffickers.  And for good measure threw in the claim that the ship that got stuck in the Suez canal was Hillary Clinton's personal child trafficking ship, which was so obvious because her secret service code name was "Evergreen", and the ship had the word "Evergreen" painted on the side.  "It was so obvious" as she pointed out.

One thing I will admit about her argument; She has no need to defend it because I can offer no counter-argument to it.

that got more and more bizarre as I read it! it'd be funny if it wasn't so shocking that people really believe in that stuff...

Apparently I wasn't worthy of the juiciest tidbits though, because she told another nurse that Fauci, the Clintons, and Epstein were are part of "the Lizard People" who have been living amongst us.  Covid and the vaccines were all part of their plan to manipulate and control the human population. And that we'd all be finding out about the Lizard People on Wednesday.  Needless to say we were very disappointed when Wednesday came and went without any big revelations about the Lizard People.

But yet her arguments were easily defensible, as I know of no logical, reasoned, or rationale evidence to disprove what she was saying.  You can't reason with the unreasonable.

It makes me sad that those poor UFO siting people got ostracized for decades as crazies and now "Lizard People" ?is a reasonable explanation of current events, so much so that people are comfortable sharing the idea with others AT THEIR JOBS ?

Her arguments aren’t defensible. You just didn’t challenge them. I’m not saying you should challenge them. It’s a work relationship and  might not be appropriate. But you could challenge them simply by pointing out that the evidence could have another explanation. You don’t have to prove that it does have another explanation. You can also say “How do you know that?” It’s something I say to people who struggle with paranoia and delusional thoughts but have at least a modicum of insight that they are struggling. It asks them to confront the source of the belief.

I agree but refuse to "get into it" with coworkers because I don't believe I will change their minds. If anything, they push back harder. I have to maintain a decent working relationship and atmosphere for my patients. So I bit my tongue.

They are not called Lizard People they are called Reptiloids so please get it right. Suspects include members of the British Royal family, Leaders of North Korea and various Democrats in the US. You can find out about it by delving into the Graphic Novels featuring Conan the Barbarian and reading the National Enquirer and the Weekly World News.

Well Reptiloids do come from outerspace and have been trying to terraform earth for over a century again my sources include The National Enquirer and the Weekly World News.

That's the thing though, in order to successfully persuade someone that there ideas and position is indefensible there needs to be some sort of common understanding of the facts surrounding the issue at the root of the discussion.  Whether it's that the vaccine changes your DNA, Covid is an exaggerated myth, or that it's all about the Lizard people (or reptiloids) it's hard to impossible to find that common understanding of the facts as a starting point.

I got the impression it was a QAnon thing.

I believe the "lizard people" idea was started by a guy named David Icke. That's been around a long time, definitely predates the child sex trafficking cabal.

You could say, “Could evergreen be the name of the company that runs the ship?”

Or

How can you tell that someone is a reptilian?
