science teacher sends a student in because she thinks he has bilateral ear infection and a "raging" fever cause his cheeks are bright red. Okay sarcastic nurse coming out.."Hi Miss science teacher I have your student in front of me...his face is bright red from running around outside, and he said his ears don't even hurt . so now Im wondering why do YOU think I need to check his ears instead of him being in science class being taught by you?"

Oh you heard his mother is home sick (mom is a teacher and is playing hooky) and there for HE has a bilateral ear infection? oh, okay, I am not checking his ears. If yYOU think he should have his ears checked, please call his mother explain WHO YOU ARE and why you want his ears checked.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH

I want to know too!!

Yesterday I had a student come down with a stomach ache. I sent him back after 10 minutes with no fever/vomiting. He came down a while later with all his things saying "I'm going home" His teacher let him call from the classroom and his mom was on her way. Grrrrr....

That would warrant discipline in my son's school and parent sent away or they can sign out early as unexcused.

They all have Fitbits. They are calling me about their heart rates.

I can't.

I searched for an emoji to express the stupidity of this and could not find one.

Seriously, people. Seriously.

WOW I can't believe the teacher went above you to call home. Oh wait yes I can. Teachers have done that to me. Then I went to admin about it and principal sent out an email that no teacher is permitted to contact a parent regarding a health or medical issue without speaking to the nurse. Ha. Idk if there are some that still try to go above me but they better not let me hear about it. IT's like Praiser said every one thinks they know btter than the nurse until the see blood or vomit.

NO way, Fara!!!!! BAHAHAHA!! That's ridiculous!!

Or hear about vomit. They don't need to see it. They just need to hear about it.

I come in at 9 and I had a boy sitting in my office. He said he didn't feel well and was sick. No temp at all. Office already called his mom and she got him *eye twitch*

I had a teacher throw GLASS pipettes in the TRASH and one of the maintenance people cut themselves picking up the bag. The teacher came asking for supplies. We don't treat staff in the Health Center, students only and she knew that, but was asking. She specifically wanted STERILE gauze. I told her have him come to me so I can check it out. He gets here and already is using the gauze from the first aid kits we give to all the teachers. I look and it's a clean cut in a vascular area. I told him I wouldn't bother with stitches. The teacher keep saying she thinks stitches would help because "There's a nerve in that area". I explained that the stitches wouldn't help with a nerve and he isn't having any s/sx of nerve issue. She went on again about infection protection with stitches. I again educated that stitches are for healing more than it is for infection control. I gave him more gauze and on the way out the teacher was again talking about sterile gauze. I was rolling my eyes so hard. I should have yelled at her that if she wants sterile gauze I hope she also has a sterile field and sterile gloves as well.

I'm not sure what else she told him, but I think her Google University Medical Degree trumped my RN license and he left for the hospital. It's his copay. Obviously she was concerned because she knew she messed up by inappropriately tossing the pipettes.

Got a frantic call from a young new-ish (2nd year) high school teacher.

"Someone just threw up in my classroom!! He's in the bathroom now!! I'll see you in a few minutes when you come over!!!!" (This classroom is in a different building from where my office is located.)

I was like: "Hold on, new teacher dude. Just send the vomiter to me when he is done (unless he is dizzy or passing out), I am not a required presence if a student is vomiting."

He seemed confused by that statement.

Puke happens and there is not a darn thing I can do about it, people!!! (Preaching to the choir, I know!!)

Wow. What do these people do when they puke or their kid does? Call an ambulance? LOL!

I had a 5th grade teacher bypass me a few weeks ago and send a student home who I had already assessed. "Ohhhh she looked terrrrible!) She was not sick, but can just be very dramatic. Turn out her sister had off from HS for Regents exam week, so little sister was pissed she couldn't be home. So she faked feeling ill.

Sometimes.....
