I have applied to UCSD's Oct 2010 New Grad Program, and wanted to start a thread pertaining to such. I applied 2 weeks ago, and today received an email that my resume has been forwarded to a hiring manager. I was wondering what progress others have made, and if anyone can share their current or previous experiences with their hiring process. Thanks! :)
Wow, Congrats on those who got hired @ Scripps Healthcare! Did you two just apply to general RN postings and score an interview or did you know someone who worked there??! Im soooo happy for you both! Any advice you two can provide would be greatly appreciated!!Also, Good Luck to those interviewing for UCSD!!
Thanks so much!!:)
Thankfully, I was referred by a friend who works there. These days, its not WHAT you know, but rather WHO you know. Thank god I knew the right person!
I finally heard back from USCD. Unfortunately I'm not getting an interview, I'm very disappointed but definitely not shocked. I guess I'll try again in October. Anyone have any advice on what I can do to even get an interview? I started applying to jobs months before graduating thinking I was going to be ahead of the game... 6 months later still no interview. This is so exhausting!! Good luck to everyone being interviewed!!!

Cane*Nurse, I think you applied to ICU and ED? Those are both very competitive units. Maybe if you applied for MedSurg or Oncology?
i feel the same way
i specified oncology or med surg as top choice-but willing to work in any environment because i want to learn.
unfortunately i received the same email for the second time.
this time i moved a little further - at least getting the ?airre.
i moved to california with my military spouse-leaving a $45,000 a year job
with the mindset of -- once i pass the nclex the hiring freeze may be over or at least i will be more marketable.
i don't care where i work - or the salary at this time- i just want to get the experience and fulfill my dream.
i have sent 100's of applications/resumes- starting six months ago.
not a single call back.
of course i don't know anyone here-- so i cannot use the "knowing someone" in.
i wish that there were the resources available to train/hire us new grads.
sometimes i wonder if my career choice was wrong...
but i will pick myself back up - and continue to pray.
i have enrolled in acls and pals - maybe this will help
new grads---we will make it through this-- we didn't come this far to give up
* thank you for listening to my vent
Hi Everyone! Has anyone heard back from UCSD yet? The UCSD HR Recruiter called me last week, to ask me if I was still interested in a new grad program? Of course I said yes, i guess the unit manager for the float dept wants to review more applications. Did anyone interview for the float department already? If so, how was it? I really hope I get called back for an interview. I'll be praying hard with my fingers, toes and eyes crossed haha. I really want to get into a new grad program!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!!!!!
Awesome Gem0607! I really hope you get the position! Do you know how many they are hiring for the float pool @ Thorton? Was it a panel interview or just interviewing with a couple of people? Also, were there a lot of scenario questions? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
GOOD LUCK EVRYONE! Hope we all find a new grad job ASAP!

I hope so too. I was so nervous I totally forgot to ask that question which is why I am so mad at myself. It was a panel interview just relax and answer the questions to the best of your ability and show your personality during it. That is really all I can stress.
@ GEM0607 : Hey Missy, howz it going, I actually rejected my interview with UCSD Thornton due to a job opportunity at another facility. How was it? I bet you the panel was extremely friendly and nice. Im rooting for you!!!
@ SDchick: Most likely, your getting my spot for interviewing if it's for the medsurg float pool. I withdrew from my interview last week. It was dreadful to do but I knew that I was making a good decision.
