I have applied to UCSD's Oct 2010 New Grad Program, and wanted to start a thread pertaining to such. I applied 2 weeks ago, and today received an email that my resume has been forwarded to a hiring manager. I was wondering what progress others have made, and if anyone can share their current or previous experiences with their hiring process. Thanks! :)

That's great! I applied last Friday and received an email with a new grad questionnaire attach to it. Did anyone else get it too?
Yes, I got the questionnaire after submitting my application. I filled it out and sent it back.

I have seen the new graduate program for UCSD in San diego. I am a California nurse too.
Does anyone know of any other programs for new grads in CA?
Im working for kaiser now as a LVN and they don't have a new grad program now. But I am told when the economy changes they will open up.. Does anyone know anything about kaiser new grads too?
I appreciate all information.

i also applied to ucsd's new grad prog for october and haven't heard anything. for those of you who received the survey and/or email, would you mind filling in a bit of info? first, was the "new grad questionnaire" sent automatically or did it seem as though they actually read your application? what programs at ucsd did you apply for? thanks!

Paulie07 - Congrats! That's a big step forward. Which unit did you apply for?
Conor RN- I applied and got a questionnaire sent back the same day- a few hours later- but haven't heard anything since.
I received the questionnaire the same day I applied and sent it back immediately. I applied for the Oncology Dept. I have been job searching for ~5 months, so I will be beyond thrilled if I get an interview. This is the first progress I have made. I applied for the July program, and was told they received so many applications, they were unable to consider mine. That time I did not receive a questionnaire. I assume that was because they had already received their maximum number of applicants, so there was no point in having me fill out a survey since I wasn't going to be considered anyway. But that's all guessing.

Hey guys. This is my second time applying to UCSD new grad. Last time I applied there were over 1500 applications for about 15 spots. This time I'm not sure how many people applied but I was told that if you don't submit your application almost immediatley after the filing period opens they aren't going to even look at it. I applied on the the first day, maybe an hour after they opened up the applications and received the questionaire that same day. The nurse recruiter personally emails those out. Last time I applied too late and didn't even get the questionaire. I am an ADN RN who is currently going to SDSU for their RN - BSN program but I feel like that doesn't even matter because the field is so competetive. I REALLY want to work in the ER or ICU but because I know there are soooooo many ppl out there applying I figured I'd have a better chance of actually landing a job if i applied to Med-Surge... which I really don't mind. Still haven't heard of my resume being forwarded, but who knows... maybe a miracle will happen and I will land an interview. Good luck to everyone else out there in the same boat. And most of all, try not to take it personal if you don't get it. We've got a hell of a situation out there right now in our "recession proof" industry
