UCSD October 2010 New Grad Program

Published

I have applied to UCSD's Oct 2010 New Grad Program, and wanted to start a thread pertaining to such. I applied 2 weeks ago, and today received an email that my resume has been forwarded to a hiring manager. I was wondering what progress others have made, and if anyone can share their current or previous experiences with their hiring process. Thanks! :)

Hello all,

I also applied for the UCSD program, but listed L&D or the NICU. I know those don't start until January but I was wondering if anyone else applied for those and heard back from UCSD after submitting their questionnaire?

Anyone apply to the ER??? I listed the ER and ICU as my preferences and still haven't heard anything.

Specializes in Emergency Room, Hospice/Palliative Care.

Yeah, I applied for ER as well, since I had a mentor in ER my last rotation. I have heard nothing either. Looks like they are selecting for med-surg right now. Oh man, I wanna get picked!!!!!!:yeah:

I got an email on Tuesday for Critical Care. They said my application has been forwarded to the CCU Hiring Manager. I should hear back in 2 weeks if I get an interview

NurseLindah, I did my last rotation in ER as well. I'm hoping they start letting us know soon. The wait is killing me!! Good luck and please let me know if you hear anything.

Passionate4nursing, I guess that means I didn't get picked for ICU?! I don't even know what to think anymore... ER is my first choice so I'm hoping that's where I interview. good luck!! :)

I'm not sure, but for the Critical Care Unit, I think they're done selecting whose applications go to the hiring manager. I know this time they aren't accepting new grads in the Surgical ICU Unit. I'm sure you'll get the same email for the ER. Did you apply to UCSD before (the July program)? Also, positive thinking helps! :D

Cane*-I received an email stating they are not forwarding my application-too many applicants, etc. Hopefully, because you have not rec'd this email, you are still in the running... I am soo sad! But-I wish you best of luck! I'll try again next year.

I accepted a job offer thorugh Scripps Mercy. I dont know what I should do about my interview with UCSD. Im debating whether I should cancel it or see what they have to offer. This week has been crazy to find out that I was selected for an interview at UCSD and getting a job offer through Scripps. Fellow Nurses, there is hope for us, just dont give up...we've worked so hard to get here =]

Wow-what's your secret? I have applied to at least 25 hospitals and am having no luck at all. Good for you. I say go on the interview-it was extended to you.

Nurselindah- I'm sorry to hear that.:( I have applied to just about every residency program in Miami, Chicago and Southern California. It's crazy how competitive it is to get a job. I'm hoping that no news is good news. And I wish you all the luck in the world! Hopefully soon things will turn around and we'll have tons of job offers to choose from :)

Passionate4Nursing- this is the first time I apply to UCSD and it's the first hospital I hear anything positive from after applying. I'm thinking positive!!! :)

True Nurse25 Congratulations!!! :D
