UCSD October 2010 New Grad Program

Published

I have applied to UCSD's Oct 2010 New Grad Program, and wanted to start a thread pertaining to such. I applied 2 weeks ago, and today received an email that my resume has been forwarded to a hiring manager. I was wondering what progress others have made, and if anyone can share their current or previous experiences with their hiring process. Thanks! :)

@ GEM0607 : Hey Missy, howz it going, I actually rejected my interview with UCSD Thornton due to a job opportunity at another facility. How was it? I bet you the panel was extremely friendly and nice. Im rooting for you!!!

@ SDchick: Most likely, your getting my spot for interviewing if it's for the medsurg float pool. I withdrew from my interview last week. It was dreadful to do but I knew that I was making a good decision.

Hey hun its going good over here. I was going to ask you what did you decide about taking the interview or not since you had an offer from the other place. The interview went well but I was so nervous. The panel was friendly but that def didn't stop the nerves. Thanks for being in my corner and I hope to have some great news soon. If not I'll keep on keeping on.

Just curious, does UCSD make you sign a contract? If so, how long is it?

I also had an interview on sept 13th for the med/surg float pool? did anyone get a call for a job offer yet??

No call yet. I heard that it was going to take a while how true I'm not sure. It's suppose to start in Oct so I hope they don't take too long. How many people did they tell you they were hiring? Congrats on getting a call for an interview.

Gem0607:

I asked during my interview when I should call to follow up. they said by this week. I am going to call tomorrow to find out what's going on. I heard they are hring for 9 positions, but i don't know how many they interviewed. How did it go during your interview? I was nervous as well, but i think i did ok.

Yeah I was also calling this week because I talked with the HR lady and she said last week was the last week for interviews. Earlier on I had asked about how many positions and was told about 10 and I'm not sure how many ppl they interviewed either. However, when I was leaving my interview another girl was waiting to be called and now you so right now that's 3 ppl that I know for sure, lol. I believe my interview went well despite the nerves I answered the questions honestly and to the best of my ability. I'm praying that we are offered a position.

Gem0607:

Yes, I'm also praying that we all get offered a position. I was the first to be interviewed on monday and there was someone waiting after me. so that makes four. Waiting has not been easy. I want to know right now. lol I'll let you know what I find out tomorrow. :)

Yeah my interview was on the Tuesday before that. OMG tell me about it this wait is killing me as well. Okay please do I am calling as well so maybe we will get the same answers :)

Gem0607:

So I called and found out the panel is meeting today and will send out an email for references. They prefer at least 2 managers and 2 professors who know your work history. This is turning out to be a very long process. Hopefully we find out this week.

Thanks so much for the update. So how long will we have to provide the references? I have 2 from professors but 0 from managers I've worked for. Did she say and/or, or exactly what you said? This really is turning into a long process especially if I have to get a reference letter from a manager. I'm originally from NC so all the managers I've worked for are on the East Coast. :(

Gem0607:

It's all in the email. 2 professors and 2 managers. I don't think you need a reference letter, just their email address and they fill out a questionaire. I am really not liking this process because it seems like everything is done electronically. It would be much better if they do it the old fashion way. All this should be done within 24 hours according to the email and you can also check that your references have responded to the email. Well, hopefully this is the last step.

Oh okay so you've already recieved the email? :( I haven't. Yeah it sucks that our society has turned to technology for certain things.
