  1. Hi there. I just finished the BSN program through western governors University and I have nothing but positive things to say. Im going right into their MSN program. ** if i take a break I will stop:)** But they offer MSN in leadership/management and MSN in education. The tuition is dirt cheap and classes are doable. I was able to work full time and be a single mother with no difficulty. Just wanted to let you know of another option.
  2. I currently work in Public Health on the Foster program side. Im in the process of getting my certification also. Look into this course... http://www.zurinstitute.com/childabusecourse.html This should work for you! Good Luck
  3. i feel the same way i specified oncology or med surg as top choice-but willing to work in any environment because i want to learn. unfortunately i received the same email for the second time. this time i moved a little further - at least getting the ?airre. i moved to california with my military spouse-leaving a $45,000 a year job with the mindset of -- once i pass the nclex the hiring freeze may be over or at least i will be more marketable. i don't care where i work - or the salary at this time- i just want to get the experience and fulfill my dream. i have sent 100's of applications/resumes- starting six months ago. not a single call back. of course i don't know anyone here-- so i cannot use the "knowing someone" in. i wish that there were the resources available to train/hire us new grads. sometimes i wonder if my career choice was wrong... but i will pick myself back up - and continue to pray. i have enrolled in acls and pals - maybe this will help new grads---we will make it through this-- we didn't come this far to give up * thank you for listening to my vent
  4. hello allnurses, on thursday 7/22 - i bit the bullet and just went for the nclex-rn in california. about 4 hours after my test- i tried the pvt and got the " good" pop up. i have checked the bon site every day and also the pvt just to be sure. today-- my name appeared on the bon site as active. now- i was not an a student in school. however i excelled in clinical. i could not cite paragraphs from our med-surg book- but i could apply what i had learned. that monday i started to study for the first time since graduating in may. i scheduled my test for aug 7th. i had my "solid" study plan together and i was ready to get started. my husband and children were trying to encourage me- they told me almost hourly how much they believed in me and knew i could do it. after monday and tuesday- i became more discouraged. i felt as if i had forgotten everything i had learned in the past 2 years in only two months. i was only getting 50% of the questions i practiced correct. so--- i closed my book tuesday night- packed everything away- and secretly scheduled my test for 7/22. i figured i would just take it to see what happens and re-take by christmas after a review course. i told no one- not my children, husband, friends-no one. i realized that the encouragement- turned to me overstressing. i lost all confidence in myself because i did not want to let anyone down. i said a prayer that night and that morning before i got out of the car- i prayed that i would have the knowledge to fulfill my dream. and it worked!!!!!!! my own fear hindered me. so everyone please relax and remember – we all made it through school- that alone is something to be proud of. the nclex is just another test that you will pass. this forum has been a lifesaver from nursing school, nclex, pvt - anything and everything about nursing- i have found here. thank you to everyone!
  5. Hello! Im currently a student in TNCC's nursing program in Hampton. The class size in Williamsburg is smaller- and many students commute to the Hampton campus. due to the larger class size(the accept around 60) it is easier to be accepted in case of a waiting list. This past year the Net test was a major factor then the prereqs. So i would definately do my best on the NET. However that may be different now. I would contact the nursing department to ask for this year. As far as program wise- its a great program. The instructors ae great and always willing to help if you ask for it. Nursing school is a challenge on its own- but it really helps to have support.
