UCLA new RN residency program 2010

Published

Hi,

I just wanted to start a thread for people applying to UCLA's new grad program this year. I have filled out the application online, but wondered if I should send a hard copy too. Does anyone else have any information? I heard that for the last new grad class, they had more than 800 applicants for 80 slots. Kind of discouraging...

ok so earlier today i checked my status and as of 10/28 everything was completed and received. now that i check my status date is 11/15 saying they are awaiting assessment completion. i called the recruitment office and they told my that i can be reassured that they have my completed application. i asked if they were still contacting people for interviews and was told that i should hear something soon. all this is throwing me off. i was having trouble uploading my docs and didn't receive the assessment link 3 days after i had applied. anyone else having/had problems?

i was wait listed today too. i applied 10/29. good luck to all those still going!

I have a feeling that some of the questions were purposefully vague to see how we would handle them. One in particular I had no idea what she meant. Glad that part is over.

I think I might know which question you mean. There was one that I had her repeat and even after the interview (I jotted it down) I couldn't figure out what it meant. I told her that I wasn't sure of what the question was asking, but gave it my best try anyway.

My interviewer was very laid back, time-wise. When ever I finished, she paused for a few secs to be sure I was finished.

For those waitlisted~ Don't lose hope! I remember during their last cohort they contacted waitlisted applicants later on in the process.

Good luck for those who got talentplus interview. My status still stuck with application completed.

Betra, my interview was about 50 minutes also.

I felt that my interviewer was going kinda fast, so I fed off her pace. Some were yes or no questions & I provided examples when she asked for them. Sometimes she would start asking the next question when I wasn't even done elaborating on my example for the previous question. I dunno, I took it as she didn't need/want long examples, but at the same time she doesn't work for UCLA & doesn't personally care how well I do. So who knows!

NurseeLeslie,

I felt the same way about my interviewer also. I felt that the interview was rushed and I had to think quickly so I know that my examples were not as good as they could have been. My interviewer also started asking the next question before I was finished also, I felt interrupted almost so I thought that was kind of rude. Towards the end she did not ask me to elaborate much, just yes or no and that was it, so I didn't know whether I should or not. I just thought that if she did want elaboration she would have asked so I just moved as she moved on. Maybe we had the same interviewer haha. Have you heard anything back from them?

My status still says "You have been contacted for an interview" I hope I hear something..

I called UCLA after my talentplus interview( which was last Wednesday) to see when we will start hearing back from them and HR said 3-4 weeks after the interview. She said we will be contacted whether or not we move on or not.. phone call if we do and a letter if we don't. She said we also have the chance of being waitlisted and I don't know how that works. The anticipation is killing me! I don't know why it would be almost a month before we hear back from them, that's so long.. especially for those who have job offers who are waiting on an answer from UCLA.

Thank you for the information. I know what you mean. Why a month? We still have other hospitals that we applied to. Whatever hospital that I hopefully could get in first, that is the one I will go with since UCLA wasnt my first choice anyways. With UCLA, we still have to go thru 2 more interviews before we know if we get hired or not, the process will take another month or two. For those that want to work for UCLA, just be patient and be positive.

My status now says waitlisted. Before that it only said Application received, but didn't say assessment completed. I never got a link to an assessment (which I remember doing when applying to UCLA for different positions...) Does this matter?

I think everyone else that didn't get contacted first round got 'waitlisted'. I got an email yesterday morning saying they reached applicant capacity.

As for the assessment link I got that immediately after I submitted the app, but I had already completed it before submitting the app. Did you fill it out before submitting the app maybe?

Again a BIG GOOD LUCK to those of you interviewing!!

Yes! I know exactly which one you mean! I even asked my mom and fiancé what that question could possibly mean and they were stumped! I asked her to repeat it about 3 times...I just did not understand what she meant and just did my best. I had never been asked such a vague question in my life.

NoMoreSchool I am right there with you in anticipation of hearing the result of the talentplus interview. Just a heads up I went back and read May's application group postings and some people didn't here back until 3-4 weeks after talentplus, then they had their nurse recruiter interview and then two weeks after that had their nurse manager interview and then didn't get a job offer until 3 weeks after their nurse manager interview. The long process is fine with me, but for those of you that have other offers, just fyi it will probably be awhile before you have a definitive answer...
