Hi,
I just wanted to start a thread for people applying to UCLA's new grad program this year. I have filled out the application online, but wondered if I should send a hard copy too. Does anyone else have any information? I heard that for the last new grad class, they had more than 800 applicants for 80 slots. Kind of discouraging...
It seems like my interview didn't take as long as others that I have read..Mine took about 50 minutes.. but I felt rushed because part way through the interview probably 20-30 minutes into it, the interview said I should be at 50% of the questions and I was only at 20%.. so after she said that I felt that I had to rush through the interview and she did not really let me elaborate on a lot of the next questions' answers.. she just went question to question for a good chunk of the next questions, not letting me say more than a yes or no. I don't know if that was just me though.
I interviewed last Tue and have not heard back from them. Altho I think I, too, could have answered some questions more succinctly and with better examples, I figure I did well enough to go to a 2nd round interview. My interviewer never suggested that I needed to move things along or told me when I was at the halfway point, even tho my interview took 1 hr 15 min. That would have been really stressful, on top of an already stressful situation! I felt like I blabbered on a bit too much sometimes, but it's hard when there is no verbal feedback to what you are saying.
My interview was a blur. I was so sick, couldnt really find good examples, and I was so tired so I ended up asnwering yes and no by half way thru. On some of the questions, I couldnt even give an example. My mind just wont cooperate. Oh well, I tried my best under the circumstances. Best of luck to everyone on the interview.
Betra, my interview was about 50 minutes also.
I felt that my interviewer was going kinda fast, so I fed off her pace. Some were yes or no questions & I provided examples when she asked for them. Sometimes she would start asking the next question when I wasn't even done elaborating on my example for the previous question. I dunno, I took it as she didn't need/want long examples, but at the same time she doesn't work for UCLA & doesn't personally care how well I do. So who knows!
Yes, I have been waitlisted I am so sad but I will not give. I guess having a degree in Biology and getting my BSN does not really matter, what matters is submitting the application on time. I was waiting for one of my letters of recommendation before submitting my application. I do believe that the people that submitted their application have a better chance of getting interviewed. I will now focus on preparation for NCLEX up:crying2:
I was also waitlisted, and I am really sad. I was waiting on a letter of recommendation as well. I had the talentplus interview and things seemed to be going ok. I also have a second degree, undergrad at UCLA, but I have heard over a 1000 people applied this time. Lets just keep our fingers crossed and hope the waitlist opens up.

Mine had to be split into two. I answered 64% of the questions in 1 hr. 15 mins. The lady said that she had to interview someone else and someone was going to call to finish the rest of the interview. I feel I couldve answered some questions better but there was no way to prepare. Some of the questions were kindnof weird. Just thinking positive my answers were good enough for another interview.
