UCLA new RN residency program 2010

Published

Hi,

I just wanted to start a thread for people applying to UCLA's new grad program this year. I have filled out the application online, but wondered if I should send a hard copy too. Does anyone else have any information? I heard that for the last new grad class, they had more than 800 applicants for 80 slots. Kind of discouraging...

I mean't unavailable! opps sorry for the typo! Don't lose hope guys! The week just started =)

Yea that's boo boo... I listed icu's for my top two choices....sigh :cry:

A lot of times units don't know if they will be hiring, and they put the units on the application anyways. Also, UCLA hires a lot of internal applicants (i.e. people who are nursing assistants or er techs), they keep spots open for them in the residency class and still have to put the units on the application.

At least they are asking you for a second choice. Some hospitals will only interview for the one unit you put down and you don't get a second choice, so be thankful for that!

I just called them and they said they will cont to call people till the end of next week. AHHHHHHH......dying from nervousness >.

Wow, so another week of waiting! Right up until the day before Christmas? Oh boy, what a holiday this year ;). And random order, huh...I guess that's good to know. I too hope I get a "yes" or "no" soon. This is driving me crazy!

Thanks for the info. Here's something to watch while waiting lol:

i say wait until it shows on your app status online "waitlisted" or "not selected" before you lose hope! you never know, they could just be falling behind or maybe others are already getting job offers somewhere else, so it'll open up more spots. Keep positive! :)

There's a couple of threads going now about UCLA...

has anyone heard anything else?

Questions for anyone who applied to the UCLA new grad program last year:

I am planning to apply for the new grad program this March and was hoping folks could give a few bits of information.

1. Is the entire application on-line or do you send in a physical application by snail mail? I want to have all my stuff in the correct form before the applications open.

2. Can you select where you do your interview if you are out-of-state? I am not in LA but I want to do a live interview in LA if possible. I am from LA so going there for a just a day would be fine with me. Did they just assign you a time and day? How far in advance?

3. Does the application information open on the same site that the info is now listed on (i.e., the "EVENTS" section of the Nursing at UCLA page?

Thanks. Any other info that you think would be helpful would be most appreciated. I am just trying to get the logistical details sorted out asap.

PS: I posted this in another thread as well.

oops, wrong thread
