UC Davis New Grad Residency Fall 2020

Is anyone planning on applying? Application period opens up April 29th. I am curious how it will work out with unit placement when so many programs in CA did not get to finish their preceptorships.

My application status changed from "application received" to "application under review" as of today. Not sure when it switched because I haven't checked for a few days, but just wanted to let everyone know they might finally be getting around to these apps.

I just checked after seeing your message and mine also changed to “application under review”. Now I’m anxious. LOL thanks for the heads up!

Hi! I was wondering what units you guys applied for?

Hi! What unit did you request in your cover letter?

I expressed interest in the Birth Center or NICU.

Has you status changed to application under review? I expressed interest in maternity and mine did, but a friend who asked for an adult ICU placement hasn’t seen a change so we’re trying to figure out if it’s changing by unit!

Thank you!

I didn’t specify a unit and mine recently changed to under review. Were we supposed to indicate a specific unit?

Specializes in Neuro/Medical/Surgical ICU.

I didn't specify a unit either, but mine says "application received" still. IDK how this all works LOL

Did you do you preceptorship in a specific area? Sorry, this process seems very subjective and we’re just trying to reason out the order in which they’re switching statuses ?

I specified a unit in the cover letter because I saw that others were doing so, and I want to work in Women’s Health.

They will go off of where you did your preceptorship but mine was cut short due to Covid and my preceptorship was not on on my first choice unit. I expressed interest in my desired unit in hopes they wouldn't care I didn't do my preceptorship there. I have prior experience and volunteer in a birth center so I made sure to point all that out along with my applicable certifications.

My status updated to “application under review” yesterday.

I applied on 5/7. I did my preceptorship on a med/surg/oncology unit.
