Trouble for taking Doctors candy

Nurses General Nursing

Published

I am a tech in a urology floor, I have had my ups and down and made my intention to transfer floor known to my HR and director. I agreed to work until the end of the current schedule. On 25th December, the Xmas decorations are already being taking down and hanging in the nursing station are socks filled with candy with dr names. Walking the hall way I saw a nurse with unit secretary eating candy and taking it away from the socks and I joined the party. They had pen in them and being in nursing school, I went hunting for the pens. We shared the candy among some nurses and kids that came visiting the patients. I took some candy for any kid I see and I honestly don't eat them at all.

Fast forward to 30th dec, rumors started that they are about to fire some worker for stealing candies and I was shook. I said I took some cos I didn't know it belongs to any and decoration are already being taken down and candy was inside the Xmas socks.

Called the HR this morning and he said " your manger said you can't transfer cos they caught you camera stealing candy, you need to settle that because is a big problem".

I dont even even know how to defend my actions, the nurse with me has gone to face panel about this and tomorrow they wil call me. How can I explain being fired over candy???

Just goes to show how they see nurses vs doctors, smh.

On my unit only the nurses had stockings and candy :)

Scarier issue is that there is a camera watching the nurses station...

You didn't get the memo?? That is for your safety only, of course!

Are we talking about a stocking with a bunch of unwrapped sticky gummy bears just waiting for some one to stick their booglie hand into, feel 'em up and put 'em back for the next guy to finger??

Good thing there is a security camera on the job.

Remember: It's not the crime, it's the cover-up.

Theft of Gummi Bears is permitted. Theft of Snickers is Punishable by death if its from me before a night shift in my busy ER. Look it up in the Cat in the Damned Hat rule book.

Here's what you should do...refilll the MD socks...not with candy, but with health stuff, gluten free, soy based , parsnips etc. Then on the front of the stocking tape a picture of any of the patients featured on my 600 pound life. Then right on it write Physician heal thyself! They'll start worrying about blowing up like a big fatty, and the candy will be left for us awesome nurses who run their assess off every shift so much that the candy doesn't affect them at all ;)

Well people get upset with minor thing. One of my collegue was so upset and investigated who ate her apple that she left overnight on the table in the staff room!

Mock not the Cat In the Damn Hat mere mortals lest ye be smote to Dr. Seuss Hades. Yet more nurse sinful thinking on display!!! Replacing candy with soy-based poo-poo!!! That is punishable by death my stoning with gummi bears.

Oh man, I just pictured some fat doctor "feeling up" the gummy bears with a gross, snarly grin on his face, then walking away, only to have the next fat, gross doc sneak up, look around to make sure he is not being watched, and then sticking his nasty hands right in!
