  1. Why do they investigate? What is there to investigate re:address? How did it come out? I am pretty sure more details is needed to understand it?
  2. This is first time you gave rationale, we understand that ICU is a different world. in your previous messages you kept saying that I glove up because I want and I wont defend myself
  3. I always check the name and dose of medication even if I thought I know the package. As recently there was a change of supplier in our hospital and suddenly many common medication changed their packaging. I spotted numerous potential medical errors with IVs as some nurses just took the vial based on their look not reading the label. However throught thw shift I ask about name on the beginning on shift, by the end of the shift I know all my patients so I do not see reason to ask again unless I have new admission.
  4. My monthly minimum spending is £1000. It comprises of £600 rent in shared bedroom flat in zzone 3, all bills (my half), travel card and around £200 for food and some cheaper cosmetics. What is above I save or buy clothets etc. If you are going to work in central London then no point to live outside London. You will pay a lot for monthly ticket and spend ages commuting. You will have same monthly costs like in London. You cant also afford to rent anything on your own from band 5 salary.
  5. Generally I do not like playing music at work but if it is very quiet and relaxing then I can accept. However I find absolutely unacceptable when staff plays very loud gospel music and shouts Jesus. I tried to react but nurses played racist and religious intolerance game and manager did not do anything.

I think you did right thing and I wouldnt wait for coworker to come back however if you only covered I would inform your coworker straightaway about plans for significant change of treatment as a matter of courtesy.
  7. I changed the job two months ago. I worked two years on surgical floor and 10months in PACU. I loved my PACU job but I found interesting offer as research nurse in other specialty and I went for it. I signed a one year contract. Unfortunately, I realised that I dont like this new job. I feel like I dont fit in and I miss hospital and although trying i cant find new specialty so appealing as I thought. I am unhappy now and regret that I left very good job looking just for greener grass.. I am thinking about quiting and returning to PACU but now there is dilemma. I would be definately seen as unreliable person who changes jobs too often. Potential employers may not be happy to employ me now. I should probably wait until my contract finish but I am too unhappy in new job to wait another 10months. What would you do?
  8. I cant believe that I went through whole poop thread and that some people took the OP seriously
  9. Well people get upset with minor thing. One of my collegue was so upset and investigated who ate her apple that she left overnight on the table in the staff room!
  10. As a matter of fact, if socks had MD's name then it did belong to someone but except that the whole situation is ridiculous and sounds unreal!
  11. I am introvert as well, PACU and now research work well me. but everywhere you will have kind of interactions with others
  12. When I was a new nurse I was staying longer all the time to finish charting. Now it is really rare, only if something unusually busy happens and I wont make it. I chart a lot, my entries I always much longer than others. I learnt to chart any call to MD, any discussion with family immediately, I never leave charting to the end, I start the earlierst possible and update throughout the day.
