Totally Off Topic: Thanksgiving Menu

I would love to hear what everyone is serving for their Thanksgiving meal, or making, or if you are going out to a restaurant instead (we have done this three times and it is awesome).

I am hosting just my sister this year, so there will be me, my husband, my sister and my two kids (9 and 11):

Turkey

Stuffing

Gravy

Mashed potatoes

Cranberry Sauce

Sweet potatoes/marshmallows (sister bringing)

Roasted brussles spprouts with shallots and bacon

Corn souffle

Crescent rolls

Peacn pie (sister bringing)

Chocolate silk pie

We always do bagels and lox for breakfast Thanksgiving morning. In our town, the HS football team plays the town next door at 10am. We always go to that game, then come home and eat around 1 or 2 PM. No appetizers or anything b/c we do it as a lunch. Then of course Turkey gobbler sandwiches for dinner that night :)

What do you do?

Far,

Go easy on yourself, I imagine this will be a different type of holiday season for you.

Cheers

Yea. I asked The Big Kid if he would rather just go out to dinner, and he said, can you cook, please? So, that's what I'm doing.

Did I mention wine? Lotsa wine.

Thanks, my friend. :barefoot:

I don't know what we'll end up eating but I'm bringing the Bud Light.

We will also do the mother/mother in law transport to and from their apartments.

Looking forward to a relaxing day!

Would you be willing to share the squash recipe? I have never made butternut squash and would love a recipe that someone has tried and likes!

We a have a quiet T-giving at my mom and dad's house. Just me and my 3 kids, my oldest will come home from college which is good since I haven't seen her in a while.

Our food is:

Turkey (I don't really like turkey, so my first choice is prime rib, but it gets shot down every year)

Mashed potatoes

Turnip (my favorite!!)

Probably some roasted brussels sprouts of some type.

Corn

Pearl onions in cream sauce

Gravy

Stuffing

Cranberry sauce- everyone like the one shaped like the can it comes in so that's what we have

We also drink sparkling red grape juice with our meal too.

Pies are apple (yum!), pumpkin (yuk! I try it every year and every year I still say yuk) and a chocolate silk pie that is to die for. I make all the pies from scratch.

Way...way...way too much food. 30+ people coming to my house. Mostly traditional dishes and a margarita machine.

We now fry our turkeys, so it has become a ritual of the men standing around the driveway, drinking beer, and watching timers.

Sending love to you, Far

Thanksgiving duties got split up into assignments since my Ma just had a minor surgery. She's fine but still wants to host. I'm in charge of the mashies and brussles (with shallots and bacon - though i'm considering pancetta and perhaps going with a gratin type this time -Irish cheddar and gruyere - YUM!)

Everyone's coming to our house this year (35-40 people). I will be cooking our traditional Thanksgiving meal with several recipes passed down from both of my grandmothers.

Turkey

Smoked ham

Cornbread dressing

Dirty Rice

Green bean casserole

Sweet potato casserole

Corn casserole

Cranberry sauce

Yeast rolls

Pecan pie X 3

Pumpkin pie X 2

Buttermilk pie

and of course, Sweet tea

lumpia?

My daughter-in-law and her parents are Filipino, so they're bringing the pancit and lumpia (filipino spring roll).
