I would love to hear what everyone is serving for their Thanksgiving meal, or making, or if you are going out to a restaurant instead (we have done this three times and it is awesome).

I am hosting just my sister this year, so there will be me, my husband, my sister and my two kids (9 and 11):

We always do bagels and lox for breakfast Thanksgiving morning. In our town, the HS football team plays the town next door at 10am. We always go to that game, then come home and eat around 1 or 2 PM. No appetizers or anything b/c we do it as a lunch. Then of course Turkey gobbler sandwiches for dinner that night :)

What do you do?

My daughter-in-law and her parents are Filipino, so they're bringing the pancit and lumpia (filipino spring roll).

*(unabashedly drools)*

Seriously!

Well! I am going 1000 miles away to eat Thanksgiving with my elderly mother and brothers in the northern states! It's been about 20 years since I ate with them for this Holiday! Leaving DH and grown sons back home. I will probably cook a little something for them before I go. Hah! Flying out for 6 days! I will be cooking with the PRO!!! Not sure what they want to eat but I will show them I can cook as well.

I've been on the kid end of what you're going through and it's not an easy time. I'm sending all my good juju your way.

Yea. I asked The Big Kid if he would rather just go out to dinner, and he said, can you cook, please? So, that's what I'm doing.

Did I mention wine? Lotsa wine.

Thanks, my friend. :barefoot:

For the actual day of, I am going up to my dad's. My parents are divorced so I decided to spend the day with dad this year. I am making a tiny dinner for the two of us. A turkey breast (still gonna have leftovers because I don't eat meat) a few potatoes, a tiny dish of stuffing and he's making the pie. We are going to watch football and play the ukulele all day and I am very excited :woot:

A little off topic, but who here calls it "dressing" instead of stuffing? Not I, said the fly, even though I should since I don't cook it inside of the bird.

I am having thanksgiving at my house this year and there will be roughly 20-25

I like what one thread said about a margarita machine....hmmmm

It's always just my daughter and me and we either don't care for most of the traditional Thanksgiving fare or we eat it throughout the year (turkey, cranberries, sweet potatoes), so we usually opt for some type of seafood and a vegetable or a pasta that combines both. It's the way was normally eat most of the time. We're a two course kind of household because to us it's an "eating holiday" and we're not all about the overindulgence or leftovers. Our one tradition that we keep is making a batch of Christmas cookies the day after Thanksgiving and then hanging out at a bookstore for hours with a favorite coffee drink, nestled in a comfy chair and reading.

This sounds Heavenly!

It's me-hubs-kids and my mom this year.

Hubs and I are pretty strict Paleo and will be actually eating some forms of grain and dairy for the holiday, so I'm sure we will pay for it the next day. However, the few things that we'll be having are my granny's recipes and it's just NOT the holiday without them.

MENU:

Freshly harvested turkey

Granny's stuffing

Roasted sweet potato spears

Whole green beans

Rolls (for the kids, we can do without)

Polish mistakes (THE BEST THING EVER)

meat & cheese tray

fresh veg & hummus tray

fresh fruit tray

a Trader Joe's frozen apple tart and a pumpkin parfait with ginger snap crumbles for dessert
