Have you thought about retaking some classes to raise your GPA, what about an ADN program? You could always get a bachelors degree in a different field and hope that those classes would raise your GPA enough to get in as a second degree student, but I think they look at your science GPA too, so that would put you back at square one. I'd probably retake a couple of your lowest classes if I were you.
Before you retake classes make sure you find out if your school deducts points for repeating a class to get a higher grade. My university deducts 5 pts a class. That can really hurt you if they go by a pt system. My friend was also told that her GPA was not competitive enough to be accepted into the program so she is looking into other schools mainly ADN program.
Apply to other schools as well as the program at your school! Even with that GPA you can get into nursing school somewhere. Just do some digging.
If you don't want to be an RN bad enough to apply to other schools, you could always major in Psychology or Health Education or some liberal arts doo-doo... i hear those majors are harder than nursing school .........................joke
Still apply! My friend got into nursing school a BSN program and she had a 3.0 Science GPA & overall a 3.2, she really thought she was not going to get in but she did. At my school they give you extra consideration if you have done 30 or more credit hours at the school and if you've taken all of your sciences at the school too! Go for it! Dont ever let anyone tell you cant :)
What a horrible counselor! She should have gave you options instead of just straight up telling you you won't be able to get in. What about getting your LVN at a community level then pursuing your RN? I know it's the longer route, but if you want to be an RN badly enough....????
Also, like pp stated, try researching other schools in your area.
Good luck and DON'T give up!!!!
Find out if your school of choice offers academic forgiveness. A lot of universities do. They'll drop the courses from the semester in which you earned your lowest grades and recalculate your GPA based on that. (So, say, you had a tragedy in your life, or you just had freshman goof-off-itis, they'll give you some leeway.) Also find out if your school looks at your cumulative GPA, or your GPA for sciences classes only.
I agree with the above poster who said you should apply anyway. We're always hearing about these GPA cutoffs, yet I know plenty of people who got in with GPAs well below 3.5 The worst they can say is no -- and then you know that you've got to retake some classes to boost your average. I think it's too early for you to consider other academic tracks.
I also agree with the above poster who criticized your adviser. She should have told you that your chances were slim and offered ways to improve them. If you have to go an ADN program, look at it this way: You'll still become an RN, only you'll likely be able to get a hospital to pay the tab when you go to finish your BSN. Not bad!

So, I got a reply back from my adviser saying the average GPA for my schools nursing program is 3.61 and I have a 3.29. She told me it will be pretty hard for me to get accepted. What do I do? I have all of these nursing prerequisites with nothing to show for. What can I major in now? Is there still a way I can become an RN? I want a BSN bc I would like to move up in nursing.
Thanks
