Declaratory order to Texas BON
lexiloo, call the Texas BON and ask them what your status is. They called me yesterday and thats the only reason I knew I was approved. I also needed to have the letter before I can start my BSN program in Jan....long story but I told the dean of nursing about my background and she said that I needed to get the D. order by Jan 5 or else they were going to give my spot away. Well it turns out when my school did a background check and nothing came up...so my dean called me and told me that I wouldnt need the letter by Jan 5 after all but I still needed to get it. I submitted my paper work the first week of Nov...and did my background check a week before Thanksgiving. I also had a mis B shoplifiting when I was 17, I am now 23. Hope this helps, but I bet they approved you...its just taking awhile to get the letter. I have not gotten mine yet but she said they approved me on Dec 9. Goodluck and keep us updated!

It was a stressful process...but good to know I was approved right before X-mas :)

HELP! I start nursing school next semester and I'm failing a class :(
Good Luck Purplerain! I'm just studying as much as I can and I am understanding the information better now, maybe I do good under pressure lol But I dont wanna be put in this situation ever AGAIN! The way I look at it, is at least we still have a chance of passing! My friend is in the same position too! and she actually needs to make a 102! My teachers does not put bonus questions on the exam, so she pretty much knows its over for her. At least we still got a shot! I'm sending good vibes to you! Let me know how it goes.

HELP! I start nursing school next semester and I'm failing a class :(
Thank you for your input, The way my school does the grading is as follows....We have a blog project that is worth 15% of our grade. We also have quizzes that are worth 9% of the grade, My first exam was worth 16% and the other 3 are worth 20%...they will not calculate any of the quizzes or Blog project ( which I did extremely well on) in the final grade unless my test avg is above 70 so even if I have a 69.99 test avg, and I get 13% on my blog project and I have 9% quiz average i will still make a D. So this is why I need to make a 95 on the final bc I need to get my test avg over a 70. The rule at my school is you have to have a final test average of 70% or higher and if your test average is above 70% then they will add in the blog project and quiz grades. If the test average is not....you make a D and they wont add the project or quiz grade in. Sorry If I confused you, its kinda hard to explain when your typing. I understand that I need to have a solid foundation of Pharmacology and I know I will if I make an A on this final exam. Again thank you for your advice :)

Told I won't get in to nursing school
Still apply! My friend got into nursing school a BSN program and she had a 3.0 Science GPA & overall a 3.2, she really thought she was not going to get in but she did. At my school they give you extra consideration if you have done 30 or more credit hours at the school and if you've taken all of your sciences at the school too! Go for it! Dont ever let anyone tell you cant :)

HELP! I start nursing school next semester and I'm failing a class :(
Hey you guys....I need some encouragement. I have been accepted into nursing school to start Spring 2010. At my school you have to take Pharmacology, Patho and intro nursing before you can even begin the program. I am doing good in all of my classes including micro. My only problem is Pharmacology. I have not been doing so well in that class, I need to make a 95 on my final which is 94 questions so that means I can only miss 4 questions to make a 95! I am freaking out my final is on Dec 10th and I started studying today. How am I suppose to make a 95 on a final when on the past 3 exams Ive barley even passed! If I fail this class then I will not be able to begin nursing school in the spring and I cant even apply to the program anymore! Any encouragement would help, I keep telling myself I can do it, I have plenty of time until the final but then I start thinking negative thoughts

Declaratory order to Texas BON
Hi Sockmonkey, What did the letter say when you received it? I called the BON today, and now I'm a little worried. They said that it takes 30 days to approve your paperwork and 3-6months to get the final approval I hope the person I was talking to was wrong. Thank you for your help

Declaratory order to Texas BON
wow really Joonbug! I just submitted mine last wed. I had to overnight my package. Long story but, I was accepted into nursing school to begin spring '09. And now the dean told me if I do not get my declaratory order by Jan 5 then she will have to give my spot to someone else! I too have seen that other people have received their D.order within a month or month 1/2. So I am very surprised that it has taken 3 months! I read on the website as well that it can take a min of 3-6 months! I really hope that I will get my response in soon. Do you have a misdemeanor or felony? I have a misdemeanor for theft....very stupid mistake that I made when I was 17, I am now 23 and I have not been in any trouble since then. I am waiting to complete my background check. Did you go on the , http://www.l1id.com website to register for the background check? and how do you know when to register? I know it says you should wait 10 days after you submit all of your documents but I have no clue how to see if my name is in the system. And the reason I did not get my Declaratory order in sooner was bc my advisor from the SON told me I could wait until I was in nursing school to do it! BIG MISTAKE! Now bc of her I might loose my spot! I went to her about 6 months ago and told her my situation and she said you will be fine you dont have to do the D.Order until your in the program! I have been stressed beyond words bc I have worked very hard to get into nursing school and now that I have it could be all taken away from me....I would have to reapply and hope to get into the Fall semester
