Hi! I was wondering what the timeline was for you to:
For example:
1/15 - Started applying for new grad positions
4/5 - Interview for Peds Residency
5/13 - Graduated Nursing School
5/14 - Sent in application for ATT
5/17 - Job offer for Peds Residency
5/21 - Received ATT
6/1 - Took the NCLEX (75 questions in 1.5 hrs, studied for 4 weeks)
6/3 - Received quick results PASSED!
6/15 - Started Peds Residency
8/25 - RN-BSN program
Obviously, you don't have to answer all of my questions, although that would be cool and interesting to read! I love planning and I keep thinking about my final year of nursing school and all the busy, exciting, stressful things that will come along with finals, graduation, NCLEX, and starting my first RN job!
Thanks! :)
I hope that the OP doesn't mind, but I would like to start part B of this subject. Since so many of you got hired (and even started working) before NCLEX how about saying what state you are in and if the job you got was in a hospital, Dr office, LTC, etc.
The "OP" doesn't mind at all! Great idea! :) Thanks!
I live in Kentucky, my job is a med-surg floor at one of the big 3 hospitals in my city, and you get a temp license that's good for 6 months after graduation or until you take NCLEX. If you fail NCLEX, you lose that temporary licensure and cannot retake NCLEX for 45 days, so I'm a nervous wreck!
I'm from PA Philadelphia area
12/14 started applying for Nurse residency programs
2/15 1st round interview
3/15 2nd round interview
4/15 accepted ICU job offer I will start in August
4/15 registered for NCLEX and license
5/9/15 graduated nursing school
5/30/15 received ATT
Was able to schedule NCLEX for 1.5 weeks later (personal preference). I take it a week from today! 6/10
- availability of schedule dates depends on testing center and open spots
Graduate - May 9th 2015
Send in your application to BON and PearsonVue for the ATT - April 2015, school sent transcripts after graduation
Get your authorization to test - 2 weeks after graduation
Take the NCLEX (how soon did you schedule it?) - June 6th
How long did you study before taking the NCLEX? - I take it Saturday and it'll be about 2.5 weeks of studying
How many questions and how long did it take you? - Haven't taken it yet
When did you find out your NCLEX results, did you pass? - \
Start applying for jobs - Applied for jobs starting in early February before I graduated
Get hired for your first nursing job (and what was it?) - That February, CVICU
Start an RN-BSN program (if applicable) - I start in the fall
Accepted a job in April (four offers, turned down two back in March and decided between two dream offers the last week in April)
Background check and paid Pearson Vue last week in April
Graduated first week of May - BSN
Applied to BON the day after my degree was conferred (a week after graduation)
ATT May 20
NCLEX June 16
My residency starts in August
I had an interesting timeline, so I'll throw it out there too!
December 2014 - Started applying for new grad residencies
2/28/15 - Interview for New Grad Residency
3/04/15 - Offered and accepted position
04/29/15 - Sent in application to BON
6/2/15 - Received ATT, scheduled test date (after many, many phone calls). I've been taking one practice test per day. I still have 3 weeks!
6/24/15 - NCLEX test date
7/27/15 - Residency begins.
Congrats to everyone who has already passed and good luck to those studying like me!
I graduated 5/9/2015
Sent in app on 5/11/15
Got my ATT on 5/21/15
Took the NCLEX 6/1/15, I did 50-150 questions from Kaplan Q Bank per day and some questions from Lacharity's Priority and Delegation Book.
I had 265 questions and it took me 3.5 hours
I found out I passed 6/3/15, I paid for quick results through Pearson Vue
I am waiting for my licensed to be posted on MA state board of nursing but I was already offered a job in a short term rehab learning to do IV's and TPN so I think it'll be great experience for the future.
I am starting my RN-BSN program this July.
I just realized we took the NCLEX the same day and passed the same day! Congrats!!
Thanks!@friendlyelse I actually called them today and they said to just keep waiting. I graduated 5/27 and the school sent verification that day to the BON that I graduated. From that point, it can take 10-14 days to get ATT. I have been refreshing my email like crazy hoping that it comes asap!
Ok great. In the meantime keep practicing questions and review. I used Saunders review 6th mostly interventions for diseases, and meds, also used Saunders flashcards,la charity and did the review course with NCSBN...much cheaper and their questions are the closet to the nclex....READ EVERY RATIONALE FOR BOTH RIGHT AND WRONG ANSWERS...goodluck
