Timeline for graduation, NCLEX, and 1st RN Job

Published

Hi! I was wondering what the timeline was for you to:

  • Graduate
  • Send in your application to BON and PearsonVue for the ATT
  • Get your authorization to test
  • Take the NCLEX (how soon did you schedule it?)
  • How long did you study before taking the NCLEX?
  • How many questions and how long did it take you?
  • When did you find out your NCLEX results, did you pass?
  • Start applying for jobs
  • Get hired for your first nursing job (and what was it?)
  • Start an RN-BSN program (if applicable)

For example:

1/15 - Started applying for new grad positions

4/5 - Interview for Peds Residency

5/13 - Graduated Nursing School

5/14 - Sent in application for ATT

5/17 - Job offer for Peds Residency

5/21 - Received ATT

6/1 - Took the NCLEX (75 questions in 1.5 hrs, studied for 4 weeks)

6/3 - Received quick results PASSED!

6/15 - Started Peds Residency

8/25 - RN-BSN program

Obviously, you don't have to answer all of my questions, although that would be cool and interesting to read! I love planning and I keep thinking about my final year of nursing school and all the busy, exciting, stressful things that will come along with finals, graduation, NCLEX, and starting my first RN job!

Thanks! :)

Hello Everyone,

I am in Maryland.

Applied to about 8 positions in my area 4 at the same hospital between April 20-May 11

I graduated (pinning): May 18th and Registered on Pearson Vue

Fingerprinted: May 22nd (electronically sent to MBON)

Applied to MBON in person and paid Pearson: May 26th

School sent transcripts (or whatever they do): June 1

Received ATT: June 1 (scheduled NCLEX)

NCLEX: June 12, 7:30am

I had 265 questions. I did the PVT 3 times and received the good popup. I will wait for quick results on Sunday and update status.

I have a phone interview at one hospital where I will be an internal candidate on Tues. 16th for 4 positions I applied.

Does anyone know about the AZ BON? Do I have to pay for registering with BOTH the BON and pearsonvue or can I just register with the BON in order to receive my ATT?

You must do both before you will receive an ATT.

Hey CA applicants, I've got a question.

I applied to the BRN for my Nclex mid-april. Graduated in May. Apparently, my transcript barely shipped out today. I also just paid for my registration and test with PearsonVue today. I'm wondering if me paying late is putting me back -- I had no idea that I even could pay early. I figured once the BRN approved me, then I go to pearsonvue and register for the exam. Do you think I shot myself in the foot?

I think some my classmates have already taken the exam, while my transcript was just sent today. I'm so irritated. :sniff:

4/2015 paid BON and submitted application.

4/29/15 first and only job interview ICU nurse residency program

4/30/15 offered job, 5/1/15 graduated,5/4/15 accepted the ICU job, 6/2/15 took NCLEX, 6/4/15 found out I passed NCLEX, start job on 7/6/15. I have a BSN and accepted a nurse residency position directly into an ICU.
