Hi! I was wondering what the timeline was for you to:
For example:
1/15 - Started applying for new grad positions
4/5 - Interview for Peds Residency
5/13 - Graduated Nursing School
5/14 - Sent in application for ATT
5/17 - Job offer for Peds Residency
5/21 - Received ATT
6/1 - Took the NCLEX (75 questions in 1.5 hrs, studied for 4 weeks)
6/3 - Received quick results PASSED!
6/15 - Started Peds Residency
8/25 - RN-BSN program
Obviously, you don't have to answer all of my questions, although that would be cool and interesting to read! I love planning and I keep thinking about my final year of nursing school and all the busy, exciting, stressful things that will come along with finals, graduation, NCLEX, and starting my first RN job!
Thanks! :)
Mine was a year ago, so don't remember all datesApril last year - Started applying for new grad residency position positions
5/04 - Graduated Nursing School
Had to wait about 3 weeks for transcript so I could send my paperwork to BON for ATT
2 days after walking it in- Received ATT and scheduled NCLEX for 3 weeks later
6/17 - Took the NCLEX (265 questions in 5.5 hrs, studied for 5 weeks)
6/17 did the pvt (the old version where you didn't need to put in CC) and got good popup
6/19 - Received quick results PASSED!
6/20 BON posted license
I had been applying on line since just before grad and got no interviews. So somewhere around July 20, took my resume into the NM where I did my practicum, she called a week or so later for an interview scheduled two weeks out.
8/13 Interview for my dream job
8/14 offered the position and accepted
And she lived happily ever after.... :-)
Do you still enjoy your job? What floor do you work on? Etc.

I had been applying to jobs before taking the NCLEX but where I am, there are no GN/temporary permits, and you tend to get screened out unless you can give them licensure info when you apply. Once I knew I passed, I started a second round of applications, and that's where I'm at right now!!

Mine is a future plan, since I will be graduating in September this year. Since I'm just making an educated guess on whether I have this right, I would appreciate any feedback. I am graduating from Nursing School in Or, but want to get registered in Ca. I've already set up an interview in my home town hospital, so I'm hoping for the best. I put in a lot of detail because I don't want to forget a step.
March 2016 (this is way early, but I'll be in CA for spring break and I haven't seen anything that says you can't do live scan early)
• Live Scan
• Take 2x2 photo
June 2016 (when California prospects firm up)
• Send in 2-page application ($200 including temp permit)
â—‹ Attach 2x2 photo
â—‹ Attach 2nd copy of Live Scan receipt
• Send request for transcripts to non-nursing undergrad to be sent to BRN
Summer 2016
• Receive letter from BRN that will say application received but missing nursing school transcripts
• Request transcript from Nursing School to be sent to BRN upon graduation
Early September 2016
• Graduate Nursing School
• Verify transcript from Nursing School was sent to BRN
Late September 2016 (a few weeks after receipt of Nursing School transcripts?)
• Receive temporary permit
• Receive approval from BRN to register for NCLEX
• Start working at hospital (!) on temporary permit, must be supervised by RN
• Register for NCLEX ($200?) with Pearson Vue (maybe do this earlier?)
• Take NCLEX
October-November 2016
• Receive notice of passing NCLEX
• Receive RN
4/11/17 Sent in BON application/PearsonVue for ATT
5/05/17 - Graduated
5/06/17 - ATT received, scheduled NCLEX immediately for 5/18/17
Studied for about 2-3 hours a day from 5/6-5/18
5/18/17 - Took NCLEX, 75 questions, out in about an hour
5/19/17 - Passed per email from BON
Started applying end of April but more seriously in mid May
6/13/17- HR contacted me to schedule interview
6/15/17- Interview with Nursing Manager
6/27/17- Accepted offer
7/06/17 - Pre-employment physical and drug screen
7/24/17 - First day of orientation
8/21/17 - Start RN-BSN program
I'm a foreigner and I graduated in 2009. Worked in a different industry upon graduation. I am planning to start my nurse career now. I heard that you can take the NCLEX up to four years after graduation. I graduated 2009, that's 9 years ago, would I still be eligible to take the NCLEX?
Thank you for those who will advise.

I applied for 2 nurse residencies and 1 position that wasn't designated new grad, but that was at a hospital where I'd done a summer externship, so I already an employee and considered an internal candidate.
