QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
Crusades said:It's ridiculous that you are still exploiting covid and even democrats have decided to move on.
I do believe Trump and Zelenskyy have a cordial relationship as well.
If anything, Trump's relationship with Putin is a form of deescalation . Remember? Would being hostile to a agitated patient be a good idea?
Hahaha. If the Hamas attack and subsequent conflict happened under Trump it most certainly would be POTUS fault. Looool.
Baloney. Talking about COVID is not exploiting COVID. Denial isn't constructive.
Of course Zelensky has a "cordial" relationship with Trump. Even though Trump withheld military aid during his term and then encouraged his devoted members of congress to delay the aid.
Putin manipulates Trump.

I wonder why so many people are angry with FEMA as th get are working hard to mitigate the disaster. It couldn't be related to the divisive nonsense spouted by the GOP presidential candidate, could it?
QuoteAccording to an email obtained by the Washington Post, a US Forest Service official sent out a message warning that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema) "has advised all federal responders Rutherford County, NC, to stand down and evacuate the county immediately".
The message said that soldiers with the national guard "had come across x2 trucks of armed militia saying there were out hunting FEMA".
QuoteThe politicization of the response to Helene and later Milton has provided a recruitment opportunity for white supremacist groups who have assembled in devastated regions that government emergency services have struggled to reach as part of a recruitment drive and PR effort.
Fema has also long been a target of unfounded anti-government conspiracy theorists – especially on the US's far right – going back more than a decade.
The most famous person currently spreading lies about FEMA doesn't have any association with white supremacist groups does he?

And I just opened an annuity statement that made me smile. It's been a very steady climb the past four years. Isn't stability wonderful? I remember the sawtooth profiles of the market during Trump and stayed away from stocks.

Man arrested for allegedly threatening to harm FEMA workers in North Carolina
The man was armed with a handgun and rifle, according to the sheriff's office.
Quote
...The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office statement said deputies on Saturday investigated reports in the vicinity of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock that a "white male had an assault rifle and made the comment about possibly harming FEMA employees" working in the area. Witnesses were able to provide enough information for law enforcement to ultimately locate and identify Parsons, who was armed with a handgun and a rifle, according to the statement.
Parsons was released Saturday after posting $10,000 bond, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

Stochastic violence.
As the late Molly Ivins used to say, Texas is the laboratory for bad government.
Texas Attorney General Paxton has been using a sketchy law to illegally search the records of agencies who help migrants, and hospitals who provide gender-affirming care.
Now he's tried it on Boeing, by demanding records about DEI. A judge said the law is unconstitutional, by violating 4th amendment rights, against search seizure.
Pentagon changes discharges for 800-plus vets kicked out for being gay
QuoteAbout 820 veterans previously kicked out of the military for their sexual orientation will have their dismissals upgraded to honorable discharges following a year-long review of their service records.
[...]
The policy was repealed in 2011, allowing LGBT individuals to serve openly in the ranks for the first time. In his statement Tuesday, Austin said that because of military review policies in recent years, 96% of the individuals forced out of the service under the law have now been awarded honorable discharge status.

This should have been done long ago. There are still ~550 veterans discharged under don't ask, don't tell; hopefully these will be able to have their discharges upgraded as well.

The goal is to update all of those discharges even in the veteran hasn't initiated that action themselves. As you said, it's over due.
QuotePrime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's promises to press on with Israel's wars in Gaza and Lebanon dashed hopes on Friday that the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar might help end more than a year of escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Lebanese militant group Hezbollah meanwhile vowed to escalate fighting against Israel and its backer Iran said "the spirit of resistance" would be strengthened by the death of its Palestinian ally Sinwar in Gaza.
Quote"The war, my dear ones, is not yet over," Netanyahu told Israelis, saying fighting would continue until hostages held by Hamas are released.
"We have before us a great opportunity to stop the axis of evil and create a different future," he added, referring to Iran and its militant allies across the region in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
Netanyahu's comments contrasted with Western leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, who said Sinwar's death offered a chance for the conflict to end.
