The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Team Trump said that this wasn't a campaign stop and then he asked if he should sign the book of Psalms.

The Kremlin has confirmed that Donald Trump sent Vladimir Putin Covid tests when they were scarce during the early stages of the pandemic, as reported this week in a book by veteran US political journalist Bob Woodward.

The Russian president's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov largely confirmed the account of Woodward, whose book reveals how Trump secretly sent tests to the Russian president for his personal use, despite US shortages.

It's important to remember how Trump lied about covid testing because his CDC completely botched their job to produce a reliable test as a Trump made terrible decisions about testing.  In fact, inadequate testing was largely responsible for the crazy unchecked spread through the country.  That and Trump's encouragement of people to forego masks and gather together in large groups at will.

Anyway, we might have done more testing but Trump secretly gave a bunch away to his buddy and let Americans just wonder as they spread a deadly disease.

So...

Congress funds FEMA. Congress was and is aware of the need for supplemental funding for the disasters which occurred earlier this year.  Congress just went on an extended break to campaign rather than take care of the business of We the People that they KNEW was necessary.

Now we have Republicans trying to campaign on the failures of our disaster relief system using inflammatory lies and propaganda.

Well, the U.S Governments fiscal year started on 10/1/2024

Prior to congress leaving at the end September for pre-election recess,  they approved a  funding patch for government thru December 2024 without supplemental disaster money, even as Hurricane Helene was bearing down on Florida.   Lawmakers stunned as disaster funds left out of stopgap bill

FEMA Spent Nearly Half Its Disaster Budget in Just 8 Days

Without more funding, FEMA may be forced to restrict spending and suspend rebuilding projects

Quote

CLIMATEWIRE | Eight days into the fiscal year, the federal government has spent nearly half the disaster relief that Congress has allocated for the next 12 months.

The rapid spending — which is likely to accelerate as aid flows to states pulverized by Hurricanes Helene and Milton — soon will force the Federal Emergency Management Agency to restrict spending unless Congress approves additional funding.

"I'm going to have to evaluate how quickly we're burning the remaining dollars in the Disaster Relief Fund,” FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell said Wednesday during a news briefing, hours before Milton began tearing into Florida's Gulf Coast and spawning floods, tornadoes and power outages across the state.

Under the spending restrictions, FEMA would cut off funding for disaster-related rebuilding projects nationwide and reserve its money for life-saving operations during disasters. The cutoff often halts major repairs to roads, sewer plants and water-treatment facilities....

When you compare our Covid experience with South Korea's, it shows how awful Trump's response was.  They were aggressive testers to sick sick people isolated bit didn't even have a lockdown because they kept it contained from the beginning.  Their death rates were miniscule to ours.  They understood public health nursing 101 rather than denying science.  And his MAGA adherents in the red states really had higher death rates but seem to be perfectly fine with that.  Culling in action.

Trumps inability to lead during that crisis got him fired in 2020. Now, when the Middle East is in turmoil and Russia is fighting in Ukraine, we need actual leadership, not the concept of leadership that Trump offers.

I think that the success of democrats to exploit covid got him "fired".

Now that the middle east is in turmoil under Biden/Harris?

When Trump solves these conflicts what will you say? That's it's a bad thing? Probably.

What a ridiculous thought... that democrats somehow EXPLOITED a pandemic and the deaths of thousands of people to fire Trump.

It's similarly weird to believe that the US president is somehow responsible for the deadly Hamas attack that started this current violence.

Since Trump's plan to "solve" the Ukrainian conflict is to give Putin what he wants, no patriot should be satisfied with that.

It's ridiculous that you are still exploiting covid and even democrats have decided to move on.

I do believe Trump and Zelenskyy have a cordial relationship as well.

If anything, Trump's relationship with Putin is a form of deescalation . Remember? Would being hostile to a agitated patient be a good idea?

Hahaha. If the Hamas attack and subsequent conflict happened under Trump it most certainly would be POTUS fault. Looool.
