QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Trump supporters state that blacks are killing blacks all of the time to deflect discussions away from areas that make them uncomfortable. Do you think that's appropriate? It's happened in these threads. Did you think it was appropriate when you did it?
The Trump Bibles are blasphemous.
Nice deflection.
However you chose to specify the ethnicity of two people in which their skin color was completely irrelevant . Only you know why and it has nothing to do with Trump.

It's unfortunate they don't have an ADN program. That would be a faster and more affordable pathway to more nurses.

Community colleges in Twin Falls and Idaho Falls offer ADN programs.
On a different note, I came across a new book:
"Opus: cult of dark money, human trafficking, and right wing conspiracy inside the Catholic church" by Gareth Gore - a financial investigative reporter.
It's a story of the rise of Opus Dei, an ultra-conservative religious organization founded in Spain and, presumably, very active in the US christian nationalist movement.
I'm very nervous about this book, since I have a LOT of skin in this particular game - and not in a good way. I first read about christian nationalism, aka dominionism, years ago and thought it most likely to be a far-left conspiracy theory. Well - just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. Google Oklahoma bible in public schools.
Wish me luck.

Its an Accelerated BSN program for those already having a bachelor's -- 3 semesters long post prerequisites.

Opus Dei is a personal prelature made up of lay men and women and priests founded by Saint Josemaría Escrivá in 1928 in Spain. Escrivá called the organization Opus Dei to emphasize his belief that its foundation was a "work of God,” — or, in Latin, "Opus Dei.” It was formally established as a personal prelature by Pope John Paul II in 1982 through the Apostolic constitution by the Second Vatican Council.
NPR covered them in 2005--A Glimpse Inside a Catholic 'Force': Opus Dei
In 2023, Pope Francis made changes to the prelature cannon law and removed their Bishop position: What the pope changed about prelatures
Will see if I can find this latest book about the group.

I got it thru Audible books, so probably available from Amazon. So far, it's reading a tad pejorative, but I'm just on the first chapter. We'll see ... meanwhile, my grain of salt hasn't dissolved yet.
toomuchbaloney said:My point is that it is an attempt to address the nursing shortage by accelerating a 4 year curriculum versus a 24 month program. Maybe I'm off base.
To me, it smacks of a 4 year college trying to lure AD nurses into paying for a year's worth of tuition to keep or get the same job.
