QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
Remember that State Surgeon General Joseph A. Ladapo, MD, PhD has been highly anti-vax. He Calls for Halt in the Use of COVID-19 mRNA Vaccines sending FDA letter re MRNA vaccine.
QuoteThe Surgeon General outlined concerns regarding nucleic acid contaminants in the approved Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 mRNA vaccines, particularly in the presence of lipid nanoparticle complexes, and Simian Virus 40 (SV40) promoter/enhancer DNA. Lipid nanoparticles are an efficient vehicle for delivery of the mRNA in the COVID-19 vaccines into human cells and may therefore be an equally efficient vehicle for delivering contaminant DNA into human cells. The presence of SV40 promoter/enhancer DNA may also pose a unique and heightened risk of DNA integration into human cells....
On December 14, 2023, the FDA provided a written response providing no evidence that DNA integration assessments have been conducted to address risks outlined by the FDA themselves in 2007. Based on the FDA's recognition of unique risks posed by DNA integration, the efficacy of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine's lipid nanoparticle delivery system, and the presence of DNA fragments in these vaccines, it is essential to human health to assess the risks of contaminant DNA integration into human DNA. The FDA has provided no evidence that these risks have been assessed to ensure safety.
Thusly, Dr. Ladapo issued dirrective "Providers concerned about patient health risks associated with COVID-19 should prioritize patient access to non-mRNA COVID-19 vaccines and treatment."

Florida sued for using taxpayer money on site promoting GOP spin on abortion initiative
QuoteA political committee behind the campaign to pass a constitutional right to abortion in Florida has filed a lawsuit against a state health care agency that it alleges is carrying out a taxpayer-funded "misinformation" campaign against the November ballot measure....
...The lawsuit targets a website, television and radio ads created by Florida's Agency for Health Care Administration to give Floridians "the truth" about the proposed constitutional amendment. If approved by at least 60% of Florida voters, Amendment 4 would make abortions legal until the fetus is viable, as determined by the patient's health care provider.
The website launched this month states that "Amendment 4 threatens women's safety" and defends Florida's current law, which bans most abortions after six weeks, under a banner that reads "Florida is Protecting Life" and "Don't let the fearmongers lie to you.”
In the legal filing, attorneys for the abortion rights campaign called on the court to immediately halt the messaging push and what they argue is the unlawful use of taxpayer funds by state officials in service of a political campaign, actions which they claim are infringing on the rights of Florida voters.

Gosh, it took Lapado all these years to discover that there was an alternative to RNA vaccines? Novavax has been around for years and he is right that something less effective than an RNA vaccine is available to them. I'm so confused now because he said something that was correct.

Sweet mother of mercy, haven't those people been bullied enough? They are LEGALLY here. They are productive and peaceful members of their community. The eating pets con is straight out of the Nazi playbook. Not a surprise, though.
I'd be careful of messing with Haitians, though. They pulled off the only successful slave revolt in the history of the New World that (I know of).

QuoteThe suit was among several that challenged the removal of books by school districts across Florida under a law signed by Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis that made it easier for community members to challenge books they found to be inappropriate in school libraries. The law, which has since been rolled back, was part of a handful of bills that restricted how schools can provide information about race and the LGBTQ community.
Note they can return to the practice of allowing parents to choose for their own child but not their neighbor's child.

GOP Gov. DeWine defends Haitian immigrants: 'They came to Springfield to work' as LEGAL IMMIGRANTS on ABC's This Week with Martha Radditz grilling him but refused to condemn his own states Senator J.D. Vance --spreading lie via X nor Trump's TV utterance.
Quote
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine offered one of the most vociferous defenses of Haitian immigrants in Springfield yet from a Republican as their presence in the city becomes a chief point of criticism from former President Donald Trump...."What the companies tell us is that they are very good workers. They're very happy to have them there, and frankly, that's helped the economy. ...
When pressed by Raddatz on how to square his defense of immigrants in Springfield with Trump's comments about them, on top of recent incorrect claims at the debate that he in fact won the 2020 election, the Ohio governor said Americans trust Trump on the economy and other issues.

It's remarkable that he just can't admit that Trump is an unfit menace, aided by the young, inexperienced Senator from Ohio. He is, apparently, more wed to the party than to integrity or ethics.
It's such a shame. We really need to have two reasonable political parties, committed to our republic over an ideology.
QuoteDivided House Republicans stumbled last week in their effort to pass Speaker Mike Johnson's bill to fund the government.
They'll take another crack at a stopgap funding measure this week with just 15 days remaining until money runs out — and growing concerns about a federal government shutdown, including among top Republicans who worry about the political fallout for their party so close to the Nov. 5 election.
QuoteJohnson worked through the weekend, reaching out to various factions in his 220-member GOP conference and trying to find a path forward on a short-term funding bill before the government shuts down at 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 1. The speaker's initial strategy had called for a six-month continuing resolution (CR) tied to the SAVE Act, legislation backed by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump requiring proof of citizenship to vote. But Johnson and the whip team couldn't muster the GOP votes needed to pass that package, and the speaker abruptly yanked the bill off the floor on Wednesday just hours before a scheduled vote.
QuoteJohnson's task is complicated by Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, both egging on a fight that could lead to a government shutdown.
The House bill's six-month time frame, while favored by conservatives, is opposed by some senior Republicans.
Republicans struggle to govern when their ideology and leadership aren't really focused upon governing. The GOP leadership is focused upon getting Trump into the presidency and not much else. Chaos and uncertainty flow from that incompetence.

Not really if DeSantis is attempting to skew the age of his constituents. IMHO, He's the w in weird. Call me glib, but he's always behaved as someone losing is grasp.
