This was interesting in the news today...

Quote

The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

President Very Special Boy is getting a new shiny bauble today from FIFA.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2025/12/05/trump-fifa-peace-prize/87589592007/

Meanwhile the CDC is rolling back a vaccine recommendation credited for saving thousands of lives.

Well I think that President Trump deserves the award. Maybe you would like to explain why you think he doesn't?

I think it is funny (in a backward kinda way) that people are freaking out about waiting a few months (after mom is tested) to give a newborn the vaccine bc s/he might possibly get sick and die;  however, they have no problem with a mom actually ending her baby's life purposefully because it is 'her body and her choice'. Somebody make it (the humanity) make sense!

That said I do wish they would give their rationale. Maybe they will, we will see.

It's not really clear that Trump actually stopped 8 conflicts. India certainly doesn't give credit regarding their dispute with Pakistan. And he repeatedly called Armenia "Albania". But if the head of FIFA wants to be his friend, that's on him. I trust the Nobel Committee won't suck up to him.

Well, you're certainly free to tell us what you disagree with the WH website on.  Same with the other sources we cited.

I agree that Trump hasn't passed much in quantity of legislation.   Of course, conservatives generally don't believe in creating legislation just for the purpose of doing so.

And, as has been pointed out in these threads in the past, perhaps by you even, that's the job and function of Congress.

And, I agree with you he hasn't solved all the world's problems in his 10 months.

It seems you re backing off that he hasn't accomplished anything.  That's progress.  Congrats.

It's a good thing those goal posts you put up are on wheels.

Daisy cited 3 sources, 2 are from the White House, the third talks about executive orders. The thing about EOs is they don't carry the force of law. He can sign pretty pieces of paper, but they mean nothing, other than to tell his followers how powerful he is, and to tell his toadies what to wreck next. We don't have a king, we are ruled by laws not royal fiat.

And when Trump acts outside of the law, such inappropriately naming US attorneys, he's going to get sued, because thats what happens when you break the law. As a Very Special Boy he has a "Get Out of Jail Free" card courtesy of the Supreme Court, The only way to stop or at least slow his multiple illegal actions is to file lawsuits.

How about mine?

And, whatever your opinion is on EO's, the same should go for any administration.

Once again, nothing new here.

Every president has issued executive orders.  Every president, in modern times at least, has tested the limits of the office and has been sued.

Like you, I don't like the games and the bending of the rules our elected politicians play.  I'm sorry that you're bitter that Trump is better at it then most ☹️.

I really don't know what point you're trying to make.  Maybe you just like using your new cute little "special boy" phrase?

Oh, I'm just trying to stir up some discussion. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed changes in Trump's  behavior. Or perhaps, no one is reigning him in during this administration so he can do whatever he wants: break laws, blow things up, sue his political enemies.

No, havent noticed in changes in behavior.  Seems this question is asked every so often.  In a sharp contrast to his predecessor, he meets with the press almost every day.  I havent heard any talk of changes.

It seens we've discussed what we have to say about the boat strikes.  Until something new comes out, not much else to discuss.

At least some of his political enemies deserve to be sued.   Although I don't like it if its done purely for revenge.  It's funny to hear complaints being that here in this group even if a case against him didn't have any merit,  the "well he has it coming to him" attitude persevered.

Anyway, is there any specific political enemy of his that you feel is getting a raw deal?  Because TBH, it sounds like you're simply repeating generalized rhetoric heard on MSNBC or The View.

I think Trump's perceived enemies are effectively defending themselves from his persecution. NY AG Letitia James had a case against her dismissed, and the DOJ has failed to obtain an indictment after a 3rd try. The Comey case was dismissed as well, with a judge blocking the use of illegally obtained evidence.

Time will tell if anything with come from the DoD is threatening Sen. Mark Kelly with a court martial and Jim Jordan going after former special prosecutor Jack Smith.

Trump recently pardoned Henry Cuellar but today he called him ungrateful for announcing he will run for his old office as a Democrat. Hmm, will he rescind the pardon?

This accusation of watching The View comes up repeatedly. I do not care for The View, and there is one program aired once a week on MSNOW that I routinely watch. Is the View accusation something you heard on Fox or read in the NY Post?

Better at it than most or allowed to go unchecked.

And examples of him being unchecked?

hey Beerman, not ignoring you, I was busy and fell asleep...

But I did laugh-out-loud, when I saw you wrote "examples"... I didn't write that to debate with you.  I know he's your guy and all and that's fine, but seriously examples.  They are TNTC.

Here's a few...let's see the fake news about LA and subsequently the National Guard, then there's Harvard, oh wait the WHO declaration, DOGE, whoops the Jan 6 pardons, CDC firings, Dept of Education firings, but first, how many of your patients and families ask how you feel about nursing no longer being a professional degree after you worked your tail off for it, blood sweat and tears, stumbled through COVID not knowing if/when you were going to die or not yet still taking care of people's families because you are a caring human who also has a professional responsibility....

I asked for examples of him "being allowed to go unchecked" (your words).

In other words, examples of him doing things he's not allowed to do without any opposing force.

So, my request remains.

Trump isn't a conservative.  He has no defined ideology except the finger in the wind.  MAGA is not conservative...it's MAGA.  Real conservatives wouldn't dip their shoes into the manure pile of MAGA.  Conservatism is about CONSERVING what is good realistic and workable policy.  MAGA has no policies.
