QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
US manufacturing contracted for the 9th straight month in November.

This seems bad for the economy, when manufacturers are laying off and purchasing is down.
But you know, blame the brown people and the poors.

Yes I realize what has been going on. Someone used the term fishing boats as if to say that Trump was randomly blowing up boats. Trump believes his actions were legal (per legal advisors) when he attacked the narco terrorists boats, you know the ones bringing drugs to the US that keep killing people. Of course Dems have to try and prove otherwise, that is their MO on everything Trump. Nothing new they have been doing it since 2016. (You remember, all that stuff that y'all argued that Trump was guilty of but later turned out that he wasn't).

US manufacturing stuck in doldrums as tariff headwinds persist

I guess you don't realize that there is an end game to the tariffs. Is Trump betting that they will strengthen our Country in the end? Yes he is, and I for one am glad that at least someone is trying. Will it work? Time will tell.
Why are you blaming "the brown people and the poors" (whatever that is supposed to mean).
Beerman said:It's becoming apparent this is all a way to encourage a regime change in Venezuela. In light of that, it's doubtful too many are concerned about the administration testing the limits of the law and a few drug smugglers being blown up.
Of course, it gives some another reason to be faux-angry.
Looks like you were right Beerman...
"We have a president for the first time... who's really taking the narco-trafficking, fentanyl, and obviously cocaine and the rest of the drugs, as a poison that is impacting American citizens... We can argue over the means for sure. But this is the first president that's taken a holistic approach to it," Keane said.
"I think it's pretty evident that the president definitely wants a regime change there, and he's offering Maduro the opportunity to voluntarily do it, or he's likely to take some action," Keane, a Fox News senior strategic analyst, said.
"While Keane emphasized that Trump's clampdown drug trafficking is unmatched in its scope, he noted that the president's pursuit of regime change in Venezuela would follow historical precedent…”
Beerman said:The caps are in line with the costs of what many would pay to get a BSN and later graduate degree including NP and CRNA programs.
And, if one wants to pay more, they're still able to get other types of loans if they wish.
There are no caps on the "professional" degrees because the earning potential of those professions are much higher.
Healthcare professions aren't the only ones effected.
I asked you what the intent of the caps were. It seems you havent bothered to think about that.
Without acknowledging the intent and whether the intent is good or bad, we can't discuss if there might be a better way to accomplish it.
So, we're still stuck at faux-outrage on this issue from the TDS crowd.
I paid the full medical school tuition when I went to anesthesia school. Why not give graduate schools nurses what it takes to pay for school? I'm missing your point here maybe. Im not outraged. I find it depressing since we advanced practice nurses are providing a large percentage of primary and specialty care in this country. . Im sure if nursing were 90% male, we wouldn't be having thus conversation.
subee said:Why not give graduate schools nurses what it takes to pay for school?
1) The $100k cap is enough for most grad programs, including NP and CRNA programs.
The University of Colorado here the NP Program is about $65k for state residents and just under $100k for out-of-state. And, over my 15 year nursing career I can't tell you how many new grad NP's I've been around that have hard time getting jobs. It's not as high a demand profession you think it is, at least in this area.
2) Giving out "what it takes" is exactly how the cost of college and grad school got so expensive in the first place. I've said that here for years.
This is Econ 101 as it pertains to inflation.
subee said:I'm missing your point here maybe.
To make my point, I've asked you a few times to answer my question of what is the intent of the caps. You still haven't answered. But from everything else you've said it seems you think it's to stick it to nurses because it's a women dominated profession.
You seem stuck wanting to believe that. So, I'm done here and will just leave you with this:

And you believe the Linda McMahon's opinion piece about how lowering loan caps on graduate students will bring tuition today? Getting rid of the guilty colleges that accept students who never finish the programs would go further in getting rid of bogus loans. These aren't reforms. This circular logic is part of Trump's plan to get rid of the education department. Trump has said aloud that he wants to dismantle the department ("We're going to send it all back to the states.') and he found someone from the world of wrestling to do it. I will check with my community college to see if the Winter semeste tuition is cheaper. I noticed that architechts are also considered non-professionals in this bill.

I'm not following the logic on anything you're saying here.
This is not so much news, but a commentary. I think it helps explain why Trump is "handing out pardons like lollipops". He has no interest in the hard part of governing. Is he working a health care plan, because you all remember the concepts of a plan during the campaign? How about fulfilling his promises about affordability, which now is apparently a scam. This old fart can't even stay awake while his bootlickers lavish him with praise.
Instead of focusing on governing, Trump spends his days chasing entertainment, attention and renovation projects that reflect a presidency stuck in adolescence.

The President Who Never Grew Up

That's funny. After all the complaints about his governing, now you're going to change course and go with he's just not interesting in governing.
