QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Oh well.

I see what you did there ... brava!
I think it's worth a look but it seems a bit premature to politicize it and play the blame game whether it's Biden or DOGE.
On a side note, often some of the statements here that aren't backed up with links, make me Google and take a deeper dive, but if I ask a question I hate when the answer is "Google it". But that's just me.
I know using a search engine is easy but so is backing up your statements and/or answering a question with a link. I'd rather see where you get your ideas from. But that's just me.
QuoteAnd in a tragically ironic twist, Elon Musk's own generative AI tool, Grok 3, implicates the Trump/DOGE cuts to the US National Weather Service and NOAA in contributing to the dozens of Texas flood deaths on July 4:
"The cuts to the National Weather Service (NWS) by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration significantly impaired the agency's ability to provide accurate and timely forecasts, which likely contributed to the severity of the Texas flood disaster on July 4, 2025. Here's how these cuts played a role:
Let's confuse MAHA with science.
QuoteHe says studies have consistently shown that replacing saturated fats, such as lard or beef tallow, with fats from plant oils leads to better health outcomes.
Still, Kennedy celebrated when the fast-food chain Steak 'n Shake announced earlier this year that it would stop making its French fries with seed oils and use tallow — rendered beef fat — instead.

Quotebeef tallow and other saturated fats like butter can lead to clogged arteries and high cholesterol, a risk factor for heart disease and stroke. And while seed oils are ingredients in many highly processed foods, like potato chips and frozen dinners, they're not why these foods are unhealthy, he adds.
I don't feel the need to cite a source for common knowledge. The sky is blue, Biden is no longer president, DOGE has made drastic staffing cuts in federal agencies.
My point in posting about Sec. Noem's assertion about lack of warning was to point out that she was making this political. I agree, that it is too early to place blame.
There are a few posters here who make wild claims , and yet don't get challenged to back those claims up. I wonder why.

They get challenged to provide sources. They just don't provide them unless they are citing a catholic publication sharing anti-abortion opinions or similar. There are different social standards for MAGA than for the rest of us. The cabinet members themselves highlight this reality. The HHS leader harps about making American healthy again while he's a tobacco consumer, ignores public health guidance public waterways and reduces access to life saving vaccines.

Yet when those same people challenge you back is the appropriate response "Google it" or is it only okay to ask them to provide sources and not you (generic you because you post a lot of articles)?

Why don't you challenge those that make wild claims? I had a couple on ignore so I might not have seen what you see.

I absolutely point out the lack of citations. I often research the MAGA ideas shared here and understand that the citation would often be a radio host or Podcaster opinion that they've repeated. There's no reason to give MAGA demands for citations any weight when they don't apply that same expectation to MAGA members. Some of my challenges never make it past moderation. My comments are too upsetting to other members.
Some camp directors and leaders watched the weather, heeded the weather advisories and got all of their campers to safety even though there were no alarms from local county leadership. Doing nothing when lives could be at risk is not brave or honorable but it seems to be the leadership model that conservatives are fond of. Trump exemplified it in 2020.
