QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.
subee said:Newsmax and it's ilk doesn't count as "other outlets." They just repeat what Fox wrote because they can't afford real reporters. Fox often drags out a rara avis to offer "proof" but these people are nothing more than a rare bird. They don't represent any movement . Yes, I believe Fox fabricates stories. A jury said so.
How about CNN, NBC,ABC, etc.
Do they count, or do they just repeat what FOX says?

QuoteThe formula used by the Trump administration to levy reciprocal tariffs contains a serious math error that over-inflates the impact by about a factor of four, economists at the American Enterprise Institute said.
QuoteIn making the case for their approach, including their formula, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative cites research on price elasticity by the Harvard Business School professor Alberto Cavallo.
Cavallo himself says it's not clear the USTR used his findings properly.
For the record: The White House did not immediately return a request for comment on AEI's assertion.
The bottom line: "Now, our view is that the formula the administration relied on has no foundation in either economic theory or trade law," Corinth and Veuger write.
"But if we are going to pretend that it is a sound basis for US trade policy, we should at least be allowed to expect that the relevant White House officials do their calculations carefully."
Team Trump is sloppy, unethical, dishonest and incompetent. They are in charge of everything.

Absolutely - and it's why I don't spend a lot of energy trying to inform people who have deliberately ignorance. Unfortunately, evolution is neither kind nor just, it just is. The young and the weak suffer right along with the stupid.
I saw a snippet on Instagram of Fox News host Harris Faulker saying something about "401K people" and needing to support these times like a war effort and did a little deeper dive.
Some sources estimate her net worth at six million and her annual salary at 2 million (although Fox does not publish salaries, it apparently makes sense in the industry and the network).
Really all I found was ridicule.

QuoteThe U.S. General Services Administration has saved $1 million by converting decades-old information storage technology, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said Friday.
In a post on X, DOGE said that the agency, which supplies office space, transportation and other basic services to federal agencies, saved money by converting 14,000 magnetic tapes to permanent modern digital records.
The move is part of the Elon Musk-led group's mission to get rid of wasteful government spending.
Looking for a bit of good news and something I can be okay with, I think this is a good use of DOGE.

Isn't the National Archives engaged in converting that old storage to new storage as a long term project? It is good news but DOGE itself has cost us much more than $1 million.

There's a couple in there that are clever and gave me a chuckle.
Mostly juvenile, dumb, or/and based on misinformation.
Overall, pretty lame if those are the best from 1500 demonstrations.

I agree. People have their beliefs. If they find something
I did see a few signs that suggested they may be planning an insurrection.
