QuoteThe abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.
The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood. I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

"MSNBC parent company, NBCUniversal, has settled its "uterus collector" lawsuit that saw Rachel Maddow, Nicolle Wallace, and Chris Hayes' programs make "verifiably false" statements that a Georgia gynecologist Dr. Mahendra Amin performed unnecessary hysterectomies at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) center"
Funny how it' s a February 21 NPR story. I don't watch MSNBC and I think you have Tweety and I misunderstood if you believe we fall for the indiscriminate hysteria of cable news. It all sucks, even MSNBC.

It seems that the most watched and shared cable programming among members commenting in these threads would be FOX. I see very little MSNBC content shared in these threads.

I don't think that was the accusation. Beerman simply presented a story that "legacy news" stations didn't appear to cover which invites a comment on that statement as well as the story. I think legacy news outlets are old school outlets like NYT and the evening news on ABC, NBC, and CBS. I don't think much of the media was giving it much attention except on the sidelines if at all.
The initial story I remember having some doubts about it but couldn't recall its details. I didn't quite believe it but as with accusations I don't take them as absolute truth and wait for the evidence. Apparently it's was brought about by a nurse there.

It's an interesting development that the defamation suit was settled and worthy of a story, but the news is dominated by Trump and Musk. I've watched ABC evening news because my best friend that's staying with me post-hurricane watches it and it didn't cover that story, it's been about the weather, plane crashes and Trump.
Tweety said:First paragraph is a deflection that has nothing to do with anything I have said. You seem stuck on repeat and that's fine with me, but doesn't mean I will engage you back. Save it for TMB, he loves this stuff.
The last paragraph I'll address. If Trump wants to stop the war and stop funding and Ukraine because he's such a kind hearted President and wants to save people's lives, he can do so without lying and making stuff up and demonizing Ukraine and leaving them out of the equation and using the Russian playbook.
It seems with you ends justify the means.
You might be on to something.
Lying , making stuff up and demonizing didn't fair well for the democrats in 2024 election. Trump definitely should shut the mean name calling down.
If Trump being mean saves countless lives, the end absolutely justify the means. I'm pretty sure citizens caught in the middle of war would also agree.
At the sametime, insulting someone usually doesn't make it easier to come to an agreement.

What a novel idea. The aggressive authoritarian could just stop the aggression.

Well, there are others here who in the past have shared what they hear on the Maddow show.

But we know that some like yourself listen to and give credibility to the likes of Rachel Maddow.

While you aren't letting go of the 2024 election that was over in November, you only mention Trump's "mean name calling" and nothing of his lying and making things up about Ukraine. Trump initially started out making Ukraine hopeful that the US will continue to be a supportive ally and then met with Russia and stabbed them in the back knowing without US support they can't carry on for long.
Again, I am supportive of Trump wanting to end the war between Ukraine and Russia into which we've poured billions into (not the figure he made up but billions none the less) and which lives have been lost.
But every time Trump is criticized, let's put the focus on Democrats and how they failed to win the election back in November. That makes sense.

I think Ukraine holding the rare earth mineral card is one they can exploit as long as they make it sounds like it's Trump's idea who apparently is asking for 500 billion in payback for our support.

Nah. I don't love that crap. I managed to read it and decide it needed no response from me hours and hours ago.
