The abortion law builds on legislation passed in 2010 that represented a major shift for a traditionally Catholic country, transforming Spain into one of the most progressive countries in Europe on reproductive rights. Spain's constitutional court last week rejected a challenge by the right-wing Popular Party against allowing abortions in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy.

The debate will be heated in Spain, I imagine, as the conservative opposition pushes back. My daughter had horrible menstrual pain during her adolescence and young adulthood.  I'm certain that she would have benefitted from that time.

Biden's interest in electric vehicles makes sense.  But why would Trump, who doesn't even like windmills, not cancel Biden's deal as he has done like he tried to halt EV charging stations?

Quote

NPR has obtained a State Department document detailing that Biden's State Department planned to spend just $483,000 in the 2025 fiscal year on buying electric vehicles and $3 million for supporting equipment, like charging stations. It represented less than 1% of the hundreds of millions of dollars likely destined for Tesla vehicles after the Trump administration quietly revised a State Department procurement document.

The vast discrepancy in the numbers raises the question: Was it an error, or a deliberate action?

I saw on Trump's Truth Social he congratulated the 2nd place winner (the won that Vance visited) in Germany but not the first place winner that I could see.

Germany's conservative opposition leader Friedrich Merz won a lackluster victory in a national election Sunday, while the Alternative for Germany doubled its support in the strongest showing for a far-right party since World War II, projections showed.

Meanwhile.

In a televised roundtable later Sunday evening, Merz also criticized US "intervention" in the German election campaign in recent days. "The interventions from Washington were no less dramatic and drastic and ultimately outrageous than the interventions we have seen from Moscow,” he said. "We are under such massive pressure from two sides that my top priority is to create unity in Europe.”

He continued, "My absolute priority will be to strengthen Europe as quickly as possible so that, step by step, we can really achieve independence from the USA.”

What a strange complaint to come from someone I've had to fact check and correct numerous times.

Anyway, I've linked to news stories from NY Post.  No one has ever disputed the actual story.  They just criticize the source.

Same with any opinions I've shared from either of those sources.  Instead of discussing why an opinion might be right or wrong, lazy criticisms of the source is what I get back.

The stories have been disputed plenty of times, just like the credibility and integrity of some sources have been challenged.  It must be inconvenient to admit that. Why else would you try to gas light us about what we've all participated in?

I'm not sure what you're saying here or who you're talking about.  Can you please clarify what you mean.

Under the Biden administration the EU and USA stance was to offer aid, sanction Russia but more or less let them work it out themselves and not provoke Russia.  I think we all figured Russia would win quickly and we'd be there to help with the aftermath.

The Trump administration of course wants to end the conflict as well and at first seemed to favor Ukraine but now did a 180 and seems more of a Russian sympathizer, and now is wanting compensation.  Of course lying, backstabbing and alienating Europe is all because he just wants to end suffering and dying because he cares so much so none of that matters as long as he's helping to end the war.

The aggressor here is Putin whom I'm sure wants to end the war but wants victory and wants the mineral and energy rich lands he's conquered.

There's also the idea that Russia can't be trusted and has broken cease fires before and is just needing some time to regroup.

If you are convinced Trump is a heartless fascist, there's noting I can say to change how you feel. And respectfully  I do not really care about how people feel about him.

Regardless of his " evil intentions" (in which no one has seemed to come up with a motive)  , the result will be more lives saved and less American money being spent on a foreign war. Which will be better for the American people. The very people he promised he would put first and who elected him. This is what he is doing. And if he didn't we would hear about how he didn't fulfill his campaign promises.  There really is no win for him when it comes to democrats.

So lives and money will be saved but it's bad because Trump is mean. There is nothing he could ever do that democrats wouldn't complain about.

Is the violence of war not considered aggression? Someone said all Trump had to do was end the "aggression". That they feel Trump is displaying.  Completely missing the idea that ending a war in which is fulll of aggression will also minimize aggression.

You're not wrong.  I've seen it happen to you. I know the sting of getting a LOL and a dismissal too.

At the very least before dismissing a story based on source it should be fact checked.  I do this and often see who else is reporting it and how.

Sure.

Those dismissals come from all sides of a discussion.  The majority of citations are acknowledged and discussed by the majority of the members engaged in the threads.

Not news ... just a signal from the zeitgeist, schadenfreude edition:

Scene: the Governor's Ball, hosted by trump and melania. The entertainment was provided by the Army choir. They marched into the ball singing "Do you hear the people sing" from Les Miserables". Delicious!

It's almost like someone was trying to make Trump squirm uncomfortably again.

It could be interpreted as an anthem in support of Trump.  Depends on how you look at it.  But it sure was a diverse choir.

Trump is mentally ill.  He is motivated by the pathology of his Narcissistic Personality Disorder.  Fascism and authoritarian dictatorship fit with the motivations and symptoms of his mental illness.

No money or lives are being saved by Musk's meddling.

Giving the Russian aggressor everything he wants and calling it diplomacy is ridiculous.

I didn't take that person was talking about Trump being the agressor and was talking about Russia.  But they can clarify.

I called Trump a liar and a backstabber not a fascist when it comes to Ukraine.  At the end of the day if he gets a peaceful end to the war I'm all for it.  But he will still be a liar.  It matters to some of us.

But we know that some like yourself listen to and give credibility to the likes of Rachel Maddow.

Sure.

I have read a couple of her books.  I read her other essays, from time to time.  Sometimes people share a video clip.

Meanwhile, some like yourself, listen to, believe and give credibility to well known liars.
